braces to go back on- 3 weeks after taken off!

Hello, Everyone. I'm 48 now, and had 2,5 yrs of ortho work for TMJ problems.. my braces came off 3 weeks ago and I LOVE my new face- it's made it all worthwhile (so for those of you who are still going- hang in there! ) BUT- sleeping at night with my new bite, doesn't work. it's just as painful as b...

Re: Braces at 41

Hello and Welcome to the over 40's brace club :) i'm 46 and i'm now 8 months in. It's pretty awful and i'm not going to sugar coat it but it is harder at the beginning but when your mouth gets used to all the metal and toughens up against the brackets then it's just a matter of sucking it up and for...

Re: Has anyone cured their TMJ with orthodontics?

well I'm hoping it works! Yes I am doing the full ortho treatment to cure my TMJ problems... And in answer to another question on the same thread, yes i had ortho and extractions as a kid to improve my jawline but now with a specialist ortho i can see what a huge mess of it they made! I used splints...

Re: Started My Journey 2 Days Ago at 40

Well I started mine 4 months ago at 45 ands i salute you for braving it! Yes i do find it really really annoying. eating is a massive chore and yes i have lost weight. I have found though that it's more about WHAT you eat to substitute the things you can't. If you get hungry and still eat yogurts, i...

Re: 30+ Years. Finally!

I wondered the same thing- i'm using wax coz it's the only way i can get through the day but does it just keep the cheeks from experiencing the damage and not toughen up? It's painful at the moment but might be prepared to take the wax off if it speeds up the process in the long run.

advice?

Re: Back in braces at 45!

I remember the wax- though when i ran out i used to use the red wax from the edam cheese as a home remedy! Good luck with yours- are you n...
