Re: Braces at 41

Hello and Welcome to the over 40's brace club :) i'm 46 and i'm now 8 months in. It's pretty awful and i'm not going to sugar coat it but it is harder at the beginning but when your mouth gets used to all the metal and toughens up against the brackets then it's just a matter of sucking it up and for...

Re: Has anyone cured their TMJ with orthodontics?

well I'm hoping it works! Yes I am doing the full ortho treatment to cure my TMJ problems... And in answer to another question on the same thread, yes i had ortho and extractions as a kid to improve my jawline but now with a specialist ortho i can see what a huge mess of it they made! Re: Started My Journey 2 Days Ago at 40

Well I started mine 4 months ago at 45 ands i salute you for braving it! Yes i do find it really really annoying. eating is a massive chore and yes i have lost weight. I have found though that it's more about WHAT you eat to substitute the things you can't. If you get hungry and still eat yogurts, i...

Re: 30+ Years. Finally!

I wondered the same thing- i'm using wax coz it's the only way i can get through the day but does it just keep the cheeks from experiencing the damage and not toughen up? It's painful at the moment but might be prepared to take the wax off if it speeds up the process in the long run.

advice?

Re: Back in braces at 45!

Hello! thanks for the advice- i think it's going to be painful- I remember some of the problems that I had with braces the first time around and i'm dreading it! I remember the wax- though when i ran out i used to use the red wax from the edam cheese as a home remedy! Good luck with yours- are you n...

Hello, I haven't seen the expander/plate appliance he will be putting in so at the moment I don't really know how on earth it's going to work- but i will be asking lots of questions and try to put up my best interpretation on my blog! :D It all starts next week- just in time for Christmas!

Re: Has anyone noticed a change in their wrinkles?

I'm not sure if it's a real palette expander like they use on kids, i've heard that it's not possible on adults but i've seen the device and it looks like a medieval torture implement designed to 'rack' my teeth and upper jaw forward and outwards so i called it an expander for want of a better word....
