Re: Double Jaw surgery February Body

Full disclosure I was having a freak out moment. The swelling has gone down I’m now 13 days post op. I suppose it’s just hard not to see yourself in the mirror for such a long period of time. And even though the swelling does go down i’m afraid that some part of the rest of the swelling is just how ...

Re: 8 weeks post-op, "swelling" issue and asymmetrical face

Hi, I know this reply comes late but I wanted to tell you about massages. I had my surgery 11 days ago and my surgeon beside the ice packs and a water cold machine that he lended me recommanded me to go to a kinesitherapist and to get lymphatic massages almost daily as soon as I get off the hospital...

Double Jaw surgery February Body

Hi Everyone, I had SARPE in november 2017. In February 2019, I had to undergo double jaw surgery (Lefort I + BSSO) to fix my open bite and Genioplasty (long chin apparently) and Zygoma augmentation (they said my face was too flat and was going to be even flater after they push forward my upper jaw)....

Re: Brushing teeth after surgery

It's hard to answer you because I read your post when I was 3 days post op. I'm today 9 days post op. I can brush my teeth softly with a baby brush and I used waterpick from day post op 1 which really saved my life. I wasn't wired shut, but the day next to my surgery my surgeon gave me some very tou...

Re: Oral Surgery - Tell us your results.

Usually 6 months. I had Sarpe 2 months and a half ago my swelling is I think pretty much down. But my teeth have still a big 6mm gap on the right. My Ortho is going to close it starting this week. I really can’t wait. Psychologically, it has been very difficult. When I was turning I cryed almost eve...

Re: SARPE Surgery

My swelling eventually wore down. But still more than two months after my surgery I can’t feel properly the portion of my jaw that was expanded. Have you had that problem as well?

My ortho didn’t give me elastics I suppose it’s because I still have to undergo a double jaw surgery in about 10 monts.

Re: Different SARPE techniques? (USA)

There different Sarpe techniques in the sense that there are different types of expender and different ways to expand (both side equally is the most frequent but it’s also possible to expand in one sens right or left (what I did). From what I read the night stay in the hospital is usually prescribed...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi again, Thanks Collie for your advice. It's been now three weeks since surgery and i'm feeling a lot better. I 've stopped expending since Mondday and now I "just" have to deal with the gap. But I wonder, it there anyone who had the surgery and expended in one side only? See, my midline ...

Re: Have braces, need jaw surgery but cannot do it currently

Well, I had braces (the one that you can remove ) when i was a teen and the orthodontist removed a tons of teen to make room for my teeth since I had a very narrow and small upper jaw. My parents couldn't afford the treatment at some point so we just stopped going. I grew up in Morocco. Ten years af...

Re: SARPE : Turning the expender what to expect?

I just had my check up with my surgeon. I was so scared, I felt nauseous and almost faited when he was about to turn the expender. But it really didn't hurt at all. He turned twice while explaining to me and my mother how to do it. I was surprised to not feel or hear any cracks and mostly so so reli...

Re: Braces before SARPE? Double jaw Surgery? Confused

It's normal. You can either have the SARPE surgery before or after braces and the double jaw is always after the Sarpe around a year after. Once I consulted my orthodontist the first time, she told me right away that I needed at least 2 surgery Sarpe and double jaw surgery. As for braces and Sarpe s...
