well I have both as well, and I drink with the essix in except if I'm drinking really hot beverages because that might warp the plastic. but I think it should be ok unless you're incredibly afraid of staining them...I do it all the time though.

I didn't switch but got ceramics, and they cost more than traditional ones. I think it's $500 for both or $250 for one....but it might have been $250 for both, not sure.

how are we to really wear them 24 hours a day?? I myself am quite the slow eater so that's about 2 hours out of my day wear to eating itself (not including snacking) and then I also play sports and although some say you can wear a your retainer while playing, I prefer not to run the risk, so that's ...

I'm thinking of switching my top hawley to essix and am worried about the open bite thing too...but I will only have a retainer on top like you...so let me know if you find out any info about this issue!

I was hoping to switch from hawley to essix, but wanted to know if you lisp/slur just as much? it's important for me because I have to speak in front of a group every week, so I'd really rather not be lisping my words.

I think I'm the opposite of you, as I rather have an essix than the hawley I have now. I thought essix retainers were near invisible, no?? I also don't want to be a pain and ask for an essix though

you only have to wear them for 12 hours a day??? I think I have to wear mine 24/7 except while eating. I was wondering, when playing sports (I might play for 4 to 5 hours, twice a week), I cannot wear a retainer in my mouth, so do you guys think my teeth will shift a lot if I don't wear them for 4-5...

it's weird though, because you were wearing your retainers...so how the heck did your teeth shift soo much? maybe ur ortho should have had you come in for a checkup earlier than 9months?
