Re: Newbie in Philly area
They are on! It took just over an hour. I took a farewell video of my naked teeth and went into the office. The assistant removed spacers on each molar testing band sizes for each before repeating the process. Then she removed each band to glue it in place. Next was the etching on each tooth. After ...

Re: Newbie in Philly area
I had to replace my own spacer last night. It had come loose after eating some Chinese food. I could feel, and when I got home, see the center hole as it hung down between my molars. I decided to take it out and try to replace it as today is my busiest day of the week. I removed it with tweezers. Ne...

Re: Newbie in Philly area
I went in this morning and signed the paperwork. After that they took me back for records, which consisted of photos of me smiling and a profile shot. Then the photos were in the chair. They had hand held retractors for each side and took pictures of every angle they could, even some with a mirror i...

Re: Consultation
I went to several consultations over the past month trying to see what the consensus would be. All of them were free but most of them didn't want to commit to a full treatment plan until x-rays are done. They were between $100 and $175, although one practice did them for free. This was the practice ...

Re: My date approaches
If anyone is following, how long between the time you got spacers and the actual braces bonding? My spacers go in on Friday, I was just wondering how long will it be for me.

Re: Cost of your braces
$4,978 in the Philadelphia suburbs. They waving my down payment since my insurance doesn't cover adult braces. My treatment will most likely be 24 months but they are willing to let payments go beyond my removal to keep my payments low.

Re: My date approaches
I have been compiling a list of off limits foods, or messy foods to eat with braces so I can have a farewell tour of eating. Last night was corn on the cob and a candy apple for dessert. Earlier in the week a sandwich with crusty bread followed by caramel popcorn. Anything else I should indulge in?

Re: My date approaches
Congratulations on finding the right ortho for you!!
Enjoy chewing gum and apples. They're the two things that I've not eaten and never realised how often I get offered these!!
Gum already aggravates my tmj disorder. Thanks though.

My date approaches
After going to my 3rd consultation I think I have found the place. The office was gorgeous, the staff was courteous, the wait was short etc. The best part was the orthodontists: during my consultation I saw two who both looked at my bite, and teeth and discussed my x-rays. Their plan was roughly the...

1st consultation down
I'm just here today to share the details of my first consultation. To no one's surprise I need braces. Not Invisalign BRACES! I'm 2 weeks away from turning 37 and I am soon to be sporting full metal braces. This ortho was able to get me right in for records and impressions to come up with a game pla...

Consultation questions
I'm going for my first consultation on Monday and I'm wondering what questions should I ask. What do you all wish you asked?
Thanks

Re: Consultations
Thanks for the posts. I didn't look at health grades yet. It reassured me about some of the calls I made. My appointment on Monday is with the highest rated ortho in the area. I do want to meet a few, but I suppose I will know the right one when I meet him or her. The appointments for next month are...

Consultations
I'm new here (my story begins here http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52455) I just wanted to know how many different orthodontists people here consulted with before committing to one. I have 6 consultations lined up in 4 weeks. Is that excessive? I am 37 I don't know anyone who...
