Re: Hello! Crossbite elastics experience?

I am currently wearing crossbite elastics. They tend to give me a lot of headaches but this is not the case for everyone. When I wear them, people have trouble understanding me but only in some instances. As for eating, they do not make eating very difficult as you remove them before eating and repl...

Re: Can't get Floss Between Teeth!!!

I had the same problem when I first got my braces. Turns out, there was an excess of the "glue" they used to cement the brackets and it ran in between my teeth. I did a dental cleaning and it removed the buildup and I was then able to floss.

Re: Ortho not letting me choose same color?

Strange, the only time I didn't get to 'choose' was when they removed my elastics altogether and put metal wrapping all around the front, still not sure what's the purpose of this. They never explained it but as a result of that, I could not get colored elastics at the front... just at the bottom an...

Re: Missing a bracket and the wire slices your cheek?

Thank you!!! I have this problem where my extractions were performed because there is just space there with no brackets and the wire cuts my like crazy!! It's awful isn't it? At first I thought it was only a problem with the first, thin wire. Now I'm at my last one and well... I was wrong. Yo...

Is this normal? Help!!

Hi, I've been fully braced for around 4 months and now I am noticing that the top of my bracket on my bottom jaw is rubbing against the roof of my mouth just behind my front teeth and cutting me, if I close my mouth the bracket fits right into the wound and it's very sore and painful. Is this normal...

Front tooth pain normal?

Hi, I've been fully braced for 3 months now.... I've had the upper for four months.. and the bottom three months. I had an over bite of about 2 cm and last time I went to the ortho they put a thicker wire. I forgot for what type of retraction, they told me but it was a new term to me. However, my fr...

I too, drink coffee with a straw so it doesn't swoosh around and I brush immediately after so it sounds like you are on the right track.

Re: Suggestions for curry dishes that are *less* likely to stain

I actually have the problem where my elastics stain because of curry it's a huge part of my diet... someone recommended using peroxide to clean them after to restore the color and it actually worked. Maybe this can help you? Good luck and enjoy your curry!

Losing weight with braces?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else lost weight since they got their braces? I've had my upper for two months and my lower for one month. I've lost a total of 11lbs since then. It's quite worrying since I've always been underweight and just recently achieved an average weight. How do you combat th...

Re: Overjet and buck teeth - metal or clear braces?

If you drink a lot of tea/coffee I'd say go for metals.. plus the brackets are smaller than ceramics.. so it's more comfortable. I had to get metal top and bottom because of how bad my teeth are so you have to see what works for you.

Re: Metal bands?

If you have fillings on the molars then it's preferable to use molar bands as the regular brackets would not properly adhere to the molars/can possibly cause damage to the fillings.

Re: Getting teeth to move faster

I personally would not advise you to put a power chain on on your own. You should wait and see what the treatment plan is from your ortho or you could severely affect your treatment time and/or also make things for your ortho with their plan.
