Re: Question about Essix retainers. Cheap options?

Wow, that is cheap! I am being fleeced. :( Dental insurance is not worth buying privately. The premiums are the same as the max benefits per year. :(

Re: Question about Essix retainers. Cheap options?

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'm glad I checked in on Archwired. It is DEFINITELY not worth saving a few bucks to have your teeth relapse and need braces again! ljms, that is so cheap! I live in Alberta, and this is the only province where dentists have no fee schedule. They can charge what they...

Actually, I found the above news story on Clear Retain, and it seems legit. I regret buying my retainers. :(

Question about Essix retainers. Cheap options?

Hi, I have not been on this site for ages! I had braces done twice, starting about ten years ago! First time doing braces was a nightmare. The guy turned out to be only a dentist who did braces, not an orthodontist. Two years of wasted "treatment" and about $4k was wasted. The second was a...

Honestly, I wouldn't be too happy either, for the reasons you mentioned. Maybe you should see another ortho to see if the open bite can be fixed. Your front tooth is definitely not level. It seems very crooked. I think your teeth will look great when the ortho levels your front teeth, and maybe you ...

I'm not exactly sure what you mean but we have people coming in our clinic all the time saying things like: "You can clean my teeth all you want I'm still not going ot brush." They say these things to our hygienists! Then why come in for a cleaning!?! And they get mad that they only have ...

I know where you're coming from, believe me. I went through a lot of aggravation and frustration over the last five years just to have normal teeth. My parents did the best they could, but that wasn't enough. They didn't think braces were necessary, when they were. It's not going to do anyone any go...

Wow

I have not posted here in a while. My braces are coming off on Monday, and I just wanted to check up on Clo, as s/he made such an impact on me. The first two years of my treatment were a nightmare, but after reading about Clo's ordeal, my problems were nothing compared to his/hers. I hope to hear go...

It seems she suffered from loss of bone, not root resorption. Those are two different things.

Is it possible to have a bone graft done to fill in the lost bone? My periodontist mentioned it to me before.

Do you have a paypal account? I think it would be a good idea if members who can afford to put in a few dollars to help her pay for her implants. After reading this story, I think it is the proper thing to do.

OH.. MY... GOD... That is just horrific. I am facing the possiblity of losing my lateral incisor because of severe bone loss, and that alone freaks me out. I am so sorry that that happened to you. You should definitely sue your dentist. Even though it was unitentional, he should have known of the ri...

Clo, I am in my third year of treatment. This is my second time in braces after ortho 1 didn't do a good job. He used an expander when the only option was really to extract teeth. I will have my braces off in a year, hopefully. I really, really wish your treatment goes well this time around (third t...

The EXACT same thing happened to me. My four top teeth were pretty crowded, and after they put a powerchain across the top four, they are worse. I had extractions, and they put the powerchain on after using elastics to close the gaps. I think the powerchain is used to hold the four front teeth toget...

Central Incisors and Lateral Incisor: Not on equal plane

My central incisors are not flush with the lateral ones, they protrude a couple of mm outwards, and this is very noticable. I noticed that almost everyone has perfectly even teeth (all four front teeth are on the same plane). I told my ortho, but he said it was because of the shape of my teeth, whic...
