Hi Mun, Despite my teeth moving quicker whilst pregnant it hasn't all been fun! A couple of other people wrote in with the same experience however. I started a discussion thread at the time: http://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=8568&highlight=lysachick It was called Teeth movement dur...

When they are off, i will have a baby! lol, that's the plan!I didn't want to deal with braces when i am pregrant. so my kid's first pictures will show a mom with a nice straight smile ;) that's not the only reason why i am getting braces :) Are you sure? This used to happen to me quite a lot at the beginning- it was very annoying. As you progress in your treatment it will happen less as your replacement wires will become progressively stronger and less flimsy. Unfortunately, there is nothing at the end of the wire to stop it from doing this. Since i...

I've also not been one of the luckier ones in terms of my speech and I've had my upper linguals since December and the lower ceramics since January. Similarly, my speech has improved but I still have problems now. It's worse nearer adjustment times since the wires poke out more into the sides of my ...

When I fist had my linguals fitted I thought my Ortho had made a huge mistake since my back molars wouldn't close together and in normal resting position my bottom teeth were hitting the linguals. If you read my my earliest posts I was freaking out cause I couldn't eat and very miserable too. I thin...

Something for you girls with linguals to consider... Despite trying hard to be gentle, my partner now freaks out if I put my mouth anywhere near there. Three months later he's only just now shyly told me why. Apparently he found a little scab on the head of his you know what and had been scared sh*t...

I imagine it's an individual preference but I find them much less comfortable than the linguals. They don't hurt or cut- they just feel like they are "in the way" so much more. In the mornings, I find that I literally have to peel my lower lip away from my teeth, leaving bracket and wire s...

I'm with Fozzy- I had a whole heap of people say that my teeth "weren't that bad". I rather took that as an insult and it encouraged me even more to want to get them fixed to have a perfect smile. If you're going to do it, do it for yourself- it really is an investment into something you'l...

I've had my upper linguals for about 2 months now and the lower ceramics about one month. For the record, I HATE the ceramics on the outside! They just feel big and chunky and keep getting in the way of my lips. Not to mention the food getting stuck. It's one thing when it's on the inside and no one...

Mine seem to do it all the time which is really annoying. The molar in front of the one that holds the wire is missing which means that as soon as food gets into the space, one little flick and the wire has come out. Since it's on the inside it's easy enough to fix though it feels strange having to ...

I know it sounds crass but for the large part it is a space issue. The bigger he is the less space there is in your mouth for manouvering unless you also have a large mouth. It's also an angle thing- obviously since the linguals are directly behind your teeth you don't go in at a 45 degree angle. Ra...

I'm due in August, and let me tell you that despite the bonus of having my teeth move more quickly, dealing with the first trimester in braces ain't fun! In this all important time of nutrious eating habits pregnany diet sucks! No soft cheeses, deli-meats, antipastos, sushi, booze or unpastuerised j...

Teeth movement during pregnancy

I just found out that I was pregnant and adviced my ortho on the next visit. He was delighted and said that it was great news because it would make my teeth move much quicker and that due to all the hormones, circulation etc that "it was equivalent to working on a teenage girl". In fact, h...

Bear in mind though that seeking the advice of 3 seperate Orthos probably means paying for consultation fees 3 times. Also, depending on your location there might not be as many lingual qualified orthos around to even choose from... in Melbourne, Australia for example there are only 3.

Good luck!

My understanding as a lay person with linguals was that linguals were an option for anyone that would qualify for regular braces. Is the ortho that you spoke with qualified to fit linguals? Without sounding too skeptical it may be that because he or she doesn't do them they are trying to keep your b...
