Re: SARPE - Keep getting conflicting info about closing the gap
We are surgery buddies, I am two days behind you but I have had lots of complication. My orthodontist is going to put in a little fake tooth in the gap for me as the bone heals. When the gap starts to fill in they can take it out. Talking is rough with the gap and she said this will help me sound mo...

Doctor downplaying surgery
So I have had quite a few surgeries but my orthodontist treated this like a relatively normal and minor procedure. I had my SARPE done on the 8th of February, stopped turning on the 27th. Had a very large amount of swelling, ended up with an infection and now I am contemplating how to do my job whil...

Re: Nerve Regeneration Timeline
I am going through the same thing and I am wondering why NONE of the doctors mentioned to me that this would be something I would go through. They mentioned pain and swelling but not numbness.

Re: Infection after SARPE
Good to know I am not alone. They switched me to another antibiotic. I hope that the swelling goes down now. The oozing seems to have abated.

Infection after SARPE
Did anyone else experience infection after SARPE? I was doing okay after the first two weeks, my swelling was receding, albeit slowly and then suddenly the one side of my face swelled up noticeably again, I am running a fever of 99.6 and there is pus oozing from somewhere along my gumline.

Re: Post surgery
Looks like we are on almost the same timeline. I still have A LOT of facial swelling to the point that my orthodontist was really surprised. Did yours start clearing yet?

Just had my palate expansion surgery done on Wednesday. Why do I feel intense pressure every time I swallow, even liquid? It feels like my jaw is coming apart

Ortho treatment at same time as child
Anyone else receiving treatment at the same time as their child? My 7 y.o. ds has his W-band expander in and I am headed in for my surgery to activate my expander next week. We commiserate in missing popcorn together.

Getting ready for SARPE surgery
Hi all, This is my first post. I got my expander installed last week and my surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, the 8th. I am starting to feel nervous because even though I have had surgery in the past, and I am used to post-surgical pain this one seems complicated for me. I am a type one diabe...
