Re: DEVASTATED - Just Told I Require Full Revision of Bi-Max Surgery
is this a common australian problem? I had surgery - i had the crooked lower jaw (tmj not in on one side) and then had revision - tmj was then out on the opposite side. I was simultaneously fobbed off and brought in too close to the emotional world of my surgeon, and my face and lips are now complet...

Lower jaw position - maxillary teeth position
I apologise for this possibly stupid question. I'm having lower jaw surgery in a month and I've had my tracings done, approved and all. My only concern is that my top teeth are't as far forward as I'm feeling they should be... the surgery is only moving the bottom jaw forward by something like 4.5mm...

Re: Please update for those undoing extractions (extraction reversal)
Hi guys, so FYI I moved to Australia last year and I swapped my treatment to a Sydney ortho and surgeon. I am going in for surgery in 4 months; I have 8mm of space on one side, and 6 on the other, so I only need 2mm more! It worked! Very happy. If you want details of options of those in Australia, p...

Re: Reversing camoflague in favour of orthognathic surgery
Wow that is super interesting. I'm stoked it went back to how it was! That must've been a massive relief! I had invisalign retraction. So it was an extremely noticeable process without the brackets. You could see the results in real time! I am hearing 3 -4 ish months for the front teeth to start loo...

Re: Reversing camoflague in favour of orthognathic surgery
Hi wolfhero Thanks so much! I do have a couple questions.... The new ortho said she should have me in and out of surgery within a year. I have 2 extraction spaces, one at 2 and the other at 3mm. From what position did you start? NZ is reallllllly behind the times so the ortho who did this actually d...

Re: Reversing camoflague in favour of orthognathic surgery
Hi again Wolfhero
Can you elaborate on who you went to to reopen the spaces?
I think Ive found someone who will do it, but I'm still waiting for their approval.
Thanks heaps

Orthodontist Abandonment
I have a quick query. So im December, after 8months of treatment (extraction and retraction class 2) , I raised my concerns with the ortho and said I wanted to revisit surgery. This is because of adverse facial changes. Its important to note he talked me out of surgery initially. He originally sais ...

Re: Reversing previous orthodontic treatment
Wolf hero - u commented on my post and then I found this. It's pretty much my exact situation as I'm sure you're aware! You don't happen to be in NZ do you? This was my exact story - no extractions with a general dentist and huge OJ resulted - go to ortho, u need teeth out. I raised surgery and aske...

Re: Please update for those undoing extractions (extraction reversal)
Hi infernalxt, Honestly, I'm doing this because I haven't been able to accept the retraction results. So all the risk is sort've a reality I walk. The strain on my gums is much more of a concern to me than the teeth themselves. My gums have receeded a fair bit, while the teeth roots are still pretty...

Re: Reversing camoflague in favour of orthognathic surgery
Wolfhero - that's awesome to hear! I'm so glad you are happy with the results! For what it's worth, another maxfax surgeon I saw said he totally understood why I was doing it, and that he thought I was making the right choice. And I've done exactly whst you suggest - found a new ortho! She'll see me...

Re: Reversing camoflague in favour of orthognathic surgery
Yeah I think you are probably about right in that analysis. I met with the surgeon yesterday and now that we went down the extraction route, he's sort've saying that it's a lot of effort to reverse and do surgery - but that it's my call. I need to have set back genioplasty, too. I'm still going ahea...

Reopening spaces and preparing for lower jaw advancement
Hi guys So I finally got the clear to do it; ortho is going to open the spaces and recreate my overjet so I can do surgery. Whoopdeedee. All I can say is they totally didn't want to do it, but it's my body, my choice at the end of the day. I shared that I wouldn't be compliant to go through with con...
