Re: Lauren's story
I had another appointment last week. They decided that I will just lose my wisdom teeth during surgery and so we won't bother aligning them and dealing with spacers, which I'm a little disappointed about because I didn't want to lose any teeth, but I think it's also somewhat common for jaw surgery p...

Re: Developed Underbite at 20 HELP
Hey, Bit distressed recently! Had normal occlusion all my life thanks to braces at 14 to 16! Recently I've developed an underbite I think my jaw has been moving forward slowly over the years and I just haven't realised (regret) </3, noticed after getting punched smack in the jaw! Was wondering if i...

Re: 28 year old fast braces
They are coming along really well
What a difference!
Do you know how much longer you'll be in them for?

Re: Lauren's story
Wow!!! Look at how straight your upper teeth are already!!!! Looking good :) I know they came into place so quickly! After my Friday adjustment I am now on a thicker wire on top. :D I'll also be getting spacers in again at my next appointment with the intention of placing brackets on my upper wisdo...

Re: Lauren's story
So at my last adjustment (7 weeks ago really?? How time flies!) I didn't get a wire change but they did take the wire out to rest briefly before retieing the rubber bands on. It hurt a LOT. And worst of all was on the way home one of the bands popped off! I live about an hour's drive from the hospit...

Re: Lower central incisor extraction concerns
I might end up in the same position as you, it's a "wait and see how your teeth move" case for me just now though. Would be nice to keep it but then one of my incisors has a bit of recession in the gum, it's the only tooth that does, so I'd much rather they take that single small not 100% tooth out ...

Re: Lauren's story
5 weeks in and I can see movement! Those upper incisors that were tucked behind are coming forward and I don't look quite so goofy anymore. :D Also I can tell the size of the open bite is getting worse - I was told this would be the case, that things will get much worse before they can get better. F...

Re: Waking up with lock jaw?
Yeah this happened to me, I woke up unable to fully open my jaw and it took 20 minutes of massaging and a short sharp click back into place before it was back to normal. Only happened once about 3 weeks after getting braced. I have jaw issues and my bite has changed a lot since getting them on - I t...

Re: So when do you notice things start changing?
5 weeks in and I've noticed that my bite keeps changing and I have a very tiny gap between two teeth that I didn't before. It is not very noticeable at all and it feels like my teeth have barely moved, but random teeth keep aching so I assume something is happening! I have my first adjustment next w...

Re: SK braces journey!!
Hey everybody!! I just got braced and this is my day 4. I already have had a cry baby session at dinner on day 2 and had been thinking how will I motivate myself for the next 18 to 24 months. Finally I decided to document my journey with weekly updates to keep myself motivated as well as accountabl...

Re: Damon Braces at 24 yrs
I haven't been in as much pain as I thought I might be but eating has not gotten much easier than it was the first day. Probably the worst part so far is the cement stuff that is packed onto my molars, which has made my grinding teeth only touch in two spots, one on each side. I purchased a water p...

Re: Lauren's story
Oh my goodness. I'll have to google an open bite, an unsure what that is. I wish you the best of luck. I'm getting ready for my second round of braces as well. Like you, had as a teen and didn't wear my retainer. I have an anterior open bite which means my teeth meet and touch at the back but they ...

Lauren's story
Hello! After years, and years, of hoping for this day would come... I finally got my braces on! My full backstory I have written up on my blog ( https://laurensnhsjawsurgery.wordpress.com/timeline/ ) but I fancy keeping a record of my journey in a thread on here too. :D The short version is: - I had...

Re: Poll: Braces as an Adult versus Adolescent
Adolescent braces pros: Many of your peers are going through the same treatment. Braces are normal. Funky colours! Cons: School is awkward enough without braces to make you look funky too. Also you're less likely to look after your teeth. Adult braces pros: More appreciation for braces, sentence tim...

Re: If you've had braces for an open-bite please come inside!
I've been told outright my issue is skeletal and will need surgery to even try and close my gap! I'm not a tongue thruster as far as I'm aware. Definitely try and get a few opinions. If you're not a skeletal case then you have options other than surgery - fingers crossed for you!
