I just had a few of my brackets repositioned and my ortho said that they go down in wire size because a stronger wire would cause too much pain (as it was, with a weaker wire I was in a fair amount of pain!). I had three brackets repositioned on the bottom and I can't really tell they've been moved ...

I had my premolars extracted as well (didn't have an option). I was really worried and pretty upset about having to get two perfectly healthy teeth taken out. The worst part for me was the pressure in my jaw. My dentist and his assistant did a really wonderful job at keeping me calm and stuff (they ...

I have the same kinds of end brackets (different other brackets though) and my ortho puts what he calls "stops" on the end of each wire (the wire goes through the tube on the bracket). It's basically a little metal thing he crimps on the end and that stops the wire from sliding out the end...

I have a class III (unfortunately the pics on my blog are down right now). My class III is a lot different than all the other ones I've seen though. My bottom teeth are further forward but somehow the way my upper teeth were positioned, it made up for it so I don't have an underbite.

I don't quite understand not being allowed to eat popcorn... I didn't for the first little while (my teeth were too sore!) but I do now... Maybe with older style braces it's easier for brackets or ligatures to pop off?

I was a clencher before braces (I do it because of stress and in my sleep) so some days my jaw is SO sore :?

I mentioned it to my ortho at my last appointment and he said it should get better as my teeth move around but if it gets worse/doesnt improve I'll have to have a night guard thingy...

If it was mentioned in your treatment plan or during your consult then it should be included. It doesnt hurt to ask if you're not sure :)

I've had mine on one week sort of 2 months. The estimated time is 24 months (I have a hope that I'll be done before then since things weren't too horrible to begin with).

they broke your jaw??!! how did they do that? thats is aweful! Depending on how your wisdom teeth are situated (impacted/etc) when they take them out your jaw is technically broken/fractured (because essentially a large chunk of bone is missing). On the pamphlet I got from my oral surgeon it said t...

A lot of orthos give their patients sugar-free gum... And as long as you're not chewing really sticky or sugar-y gum it should be alright. Soups are good, mashed potatoes, smoothies, apple sauce... Anything sort of mushy for the first few days will be good. After that ease yourself into harder foods...

Location: 200km North of the Arctic Circle, Canada May I ask the current temperature there?? It's actually only -12C here at the moment. We're WAY above seasonal average though... Normally around this time of year we're hitting in the mid -40s with the windchill and we usually get one or two blizza...

I didn't think my bite was bad to start with but now that we've started messing around with things it's gone pretty wacky and changes almost daily (the first few days it changed A LOT - ie: I'd decide to eat something solid for once then by the time I cooked or ordered out my bite had gone off just ...
