Re: New brace face here!

I haven't been braced yet, so I admire your courage! Good luck! I have wraparound Hawleys I wear 24/7. They have been ground down to fit right, so the rough edges have created ulcers on my tongue. I don't snack as much/at all now, unless I am alone or close to a place to brush.

Re: Standard Hawley vs Wrap Around Hawley

My wire does not touch all teeth. It seems like the acrylic pushes out and the wire only touches from the incisors across thenfront-but my labial bow has acrylic across the front, so the acrylic touches my teeth, not the wire.

Re: Anyone have a positioner in between braces and retainers?

Did your jaw get tired wearing it? I was supposed to bite into mine and essentially chew on it.

Re: Hawley Retainers

I use a mechanical brush and toothpaste with no scratching. I took mine in for an adjustment and they filed it down making a lot of noticeable scratches ( which I find really annoying) so I assume the scratching isn't that bad. I soaked my in hydrogen peroxide and the color of the palette acrylics "...

Jaw pain! Will it continue?

Hello Bracket Club! The recommendation is to get wired. My bite and jaw are off. As a result, I was prescribed and wear my Hawley wraparound retainer 24/7 (except when speaking at work is essential). I had braces as a teen, stopped wearing my retainer after it broke. Now I have to decide. The adult ...

Re: Braces (again) @ 27 - edge to edge bite

So what are the attachments? I am trying to decide on braces round two and despite all the perils of metal braces I am not sure I can follow through on the Invisalign because of the "option" to take them out.

Re: Bottom canine is hitting my top Hawley retainer

My bottom canines were hitting both the palette plastic and the top labial bow on the standard Hawley as is crossed under by my upper canines. Very painful because at the point of contact it made my upper canines very sore. So my ortho made me a wraparound Hawley so the labial wire does not cross un...

Re: Anyone have a positioner in between braces and retainers?

I had one, but it was ironically called the "pro"sitioner. I did not feel like a pro wearing it. It was exhausting. The treatment was to bite into it so it could make the needed adjustments but it was really dense rubber/plastic. It totally made verbal communication impossible, since it was 3x's as ...

Re: Hawley Retainers

I have the same problem with my wraparound Hawleys-my bite feels off when I take them out. I feel like my upper is the worst maybe too "tight"? I don't know if the acrylic on the palette needs to be ground down some it isn't pushing out on my teeth so much. Does any one know if this is normal, or ne...

Re: Standard Hawley vs Wrap Around Hawley

The wire on mine is .036 as opposed to .030 so maybe it's more noticeable, with acrylic on the bow, and a full palate which makes it hard to talk.

Re: Standard Hawley vs Wrap Around Hawley

I ended up with a wraparound. The wires for the standard don't fit between my teeth because they are too tight, so the wraparound goes from the front bow around my back molars to hold it in place. The wire is thicker, and the palette, I guess, too to give it structural strength so it doesn't brake w...
