Power chain's pain in my molars!
Today was my first adjustment after I got 4 premolars extracted 4 weeks ago. They applied power chains to both my upper and lower arches. My brackets extend back to the 1st molars only. So after the adjustment, I mainly feel the pain from the power chains in my back teeth (the 2nd premolar and the 1...

Re: Powerchains before teeth are straighten?
I am in the same position. I have 1 tooth above and 1 tooth below that are not fully aligned yet and today I had power chains applied to both arches. I don't know what to expect but to be honest I was happy because I really want the extraction gaps to shrink even if alignment isn't yet 100%. I have ...

Re: Severe pain after extraction of 4 teeth
I am glad to say that the 9th day was the last day I had to take pain medications.
But I think that there must be a slight invisible movement in my teeth because I just don't know where to place my jaws in relation to each other now lol. Has anybody been through a similar experience?

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile
It's amazing what effects shifting a few teeth can produce!
Btw what is the function of the elastics? Could they be a main part of my treatment?

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile
Oh really? I do have my wisdom teeth. They are doing quite fine so I wouldn't want to pull them out. Also maybe it would be too much for my tongue if I do. Don't know... But hey don't forget that I've already been in braces for 1 year now before my ortho decided that nothing will happen without extr...

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile
Wow the change in her case was really dramatic. But I think that my profile is far more convex than hers and I have no chin at all! Maybe I'll develop a small chin by the end of the treatment :D Thinking about it again, maybe they should have pulled 8 teeth instead of 4 *sigh* But really based on th...

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile
And here is a photo of my protrusive profile
I haven't heard my ortho mention anything about making my arch rounder..
But really 24 months is too long
Don't people say that gaps close at about 1 mm/month?

Re: Extraction of bicuspids and benefits on the profile
About the profile : I don't have your photos but take a look at mine. I posted my before/after in older posts in this thread, which can give you an idea about how will become your profile. About the tongue : No it wasn't squeezed because my upper arch was made rounder to avoid this side effect. Abo...

Re: Severe pain after extraction of 4 teeth
just make sure to eat when taking the pain reliever meds. 2+ months after having braced,I have been extracted 2 upper bicuspids and they hurt a lot for the first 3 days! but the pain diminishes everyday. Today is my fourth day of getting my tooth extracted and there's little to now pain except when...

Re: Severe pain after extraction of 4 teeth
I'm not sure who told you to avoid the "ulcer" drug, but if you are taking ibuprofen, which has the reputation for ulcers with long-term use or misuse, you can take it with food and follow label directions with confidence. Ibuprofen specifically targets biochemical intermediaries associat...

Re: Anyone worried their smiles won't be what they wanted?
After reading all the horror stories about the results of extraction, I am truly worried about my end results and what changes may occur in my smile, my lips and my profile. All I can do now is wait and see though.
