Re: Dying for some chips and salsa
I think it took me about 5 weeks before I could eat tortilla chips without any pain. The beginning is always the worst but it gets considerably better!

Re: Self-ligating braces: difficulty & pain when getting wires off
Just wait until you get to the steel wires and the ortho bends them. I was literally sweating at one point when he was trying to get that wire in because it hurt so bad.

Last wire- Stainless Steel?
16 months into my journey (crazy how fast it's going by). My ortho told me I'm on the final wire now, which is this ridiculously thick stainless steel wire. I had my appointment last Thursday on 02/26 and some of my teeth are still sore. Not a fan of this wire at all. I was more sore with this wire ...

Re: How are bite blocks removed?
I had bite turbos ( as I call them!) put on the bottom front two teeth of mine. This was to correct a slight underbite which my ortho corrected through some IPR (it was that or remove some teeth). I had those bite turbo's on for about 3 months, didn't notice them about after 3-4 weeks. I just had my...

Re: How often do you need to go in for unscheduled repairs?
In the last 10 months, I've gone in for broken brackets twice! Both occurrences happened within a week of each other and after an adjustment. They put brackets on bottom molars and my top molar was hitting the bottom bracket on one side. They fixed it on the third try and haven't broken that bracket...

I remember during the beginning of my treatment my teeth were clicky too and I hated that feeling! If I bit my teeth together, I could feel the teeth move back to where it originally was before it came loose. 10 months in and I haven't had any clicky teeth. But definitely still getting loose teeth t...

Re: Are springs painful?
They're not that bad as some people make them out to be. Yes, they do hurt the first couple days but I found the pain to be manageable. I didn't need any aspirin or ibuprofen. It did suck to eat because that area of my mouth was pretty sore but after 3-4 hours the soreness goes away too. There were ...

Re: New to braces
I went with Damon clear braces on top and metal on bottom. Honestly, if I could go back, I would have just gotten the metal ones on top too. I only cared I had braces for about the first two days and then I was over it. The ceramic ones also stain a little so eventually they're less clear. I'm 10 mo...

Re: Have slight underbite now due to braces, would I need surgery?
Apologize for the delay response! I've been traveling for work internationally and it's been hectic the past couple weeks. [quote="lmk"]It sounds like the braces gave you an edge-to-edge bite. As the bottom crowded teeth straighten out and the arch gets round an edge -to-edge bite can happ...

Re: Have slight underbite now due to braces, would I need surgery?
Hi Lovespain5! Thanks for the response. For some reason it's saying I don't have authorization to view your photo. It's complete contact between upper front and lower front teeth. I used to have severe bottom crowding, and what I'm assuming happened is that my teeth shifted forward. I'm worried that...

Have slight underbite now due to braces, would I need surgery?
Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster! I really like coming here and reading some of the threads and responses. Lot of great information! So I've had Damon braces for about 9 months now and have a come a long long way. My sentence is 24 months. When I first started my journey, I had a nor...
