Re: Midline is of and gaps between teeth

My midline is off when I open my mouth and they keep saying it will fix itself when my muscles get stronger. It's been 3 months. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Still feel like I *look* like I have an underbite (after left 1 and genio)...anyone else?

This phenomenon is common with plastic surgery or really anything that changes your appearance. Have you ever heard of people that lost a ton of weight but still see a fat person in the mirror? It's the same idea. I have it sometimes after surgery and I believe it's because I'm extremely paranoid ab...

Re: Is there a reason we don't mention doctors names

Another thing to keep in mind is that many surgeons don't have the best bedside manner. They became surgeons because they love performing surgery, meeting with patients is the least enjoyable part of their job to them. That doesn't mean that a surgeon shouldn't take good care of their patients, but ...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

Maybe it's because I was basically under for 3 days. I'm having some short term memory issues because of that, too. Supposedly, this will improve and I really hope so because I am beyond forgetful now. lol

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

Oh, another thing I wanted to ask: Did anyone else have hair loss after surgery? My hair is coming out like crazy and my doctor says it's my body being shocked by the surgery. I noticed it over a month after surgery and this information explains why: "There might be an environmental insult that...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

I can feel the indentations where the jaw was cut and moved forward. Will that eventually fill in after a few years? Random question, I know lol

Re: Orthognathic surgery AFTER Rhinoplasty and cheek implants

I am very androgynous looking myself and having my jaw moved forward transformed my slightly square-ish jawline to a nice V line. Since I am not interested in changing my androgynous look, I didn't think about it much before surgery. Talk to the plastic surgeon who will do your ffs and ask their opi...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

Thank you for this! I will try doing some stretches, though I don't have the muscle relaxers so I will be very careful. Maybe it's something I will discuss with my surgeon at my next visit. Yes, I know what you mean about muscles being confused! Even talking clearly can be a challenge and it just fe...

I also had wire ties put on every tooth. Some brackets were even broken during surgery, but my teeth didn't move at all.

Re: How long does it take to be able to speak normally after surgery?

I'm still not perfectly clear after 2 months. My jaw is still stiff when I make certain sounds, especially ones where my chin goes forward. It really takes our muscles a long time to acclimate to their new positions. Keep practicing!

Re: Pre-Op for DJS Questions: New ID? Haircut? and more!

Haha thanks for the input! My hair grows fast, and I will want it to look nicer during the holidays (traveling to visit SOs family, going out for dinner, work holiday parties) but I don't know that I want to deal with it before or a few weeks after. My hair is short, and yes! I figure my face will ...

Re: Pre-Op for DJS Questions: New ID? Haircut? and more!

I think you should wait until after surgery and healing to get a haircut because your face shape will be a bit different. (If you care about that kind of thing.) Or just get a very small trim now and wait for a major cut later. This all depends on you and your hair. I have no idea how long your hair...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

Hi all, I'm hoping for some emotional support here, having surgery in a week, originally was excited now very nervous. Having an IVRO, Lefort 1 and sliding genio to correct a major cant, minor chin relocation, and mandible reduction on the bottom jaw, and minor cant on the top jaw. Happily all 3 ar...
