My dental hygienist yesterday even commented on how white they are. Just don't spit down the drain, I hear it causes clogs. I spit in a cup.

Re: Anyone have a bonded retainer AND a hawley?
I have both. The permanent is only on the first six teeth. Without the Hawley in addition to it, the premolars/molars would not have any retention. Plus the permanent is only behind the teeth. It does not prevent them from going forward. That's interesting. My molars have never moved despite not ha...

Why do you need both a permanent and a removable? In my country, it's usually one or the other.

Is it safe to oil pull with a permanent retainer or does it make the glue come off?

Do you use coconut oil? For how long do you swish it around in your mouth?carrieann wrote:I started oil pulling a couple weeks ago and to my surprise my teeth are so white. I didn't know pulling helped to whiten, but boy it sure does.

Re: Standard Hawley vs Wrap Around Hawley
Damn, I have about twice as much acrylic in mine. My palate is covered all the way past my last molars. Your bottom is almost identical though. I slur a bit too, and can't make K sounds since I have a tongue guard in the back. retainers.png Holy moly, that's a lot of acrylic! Is it an older model? ...

Re: Permanent Wire Retainer on bottom teeth driving me crazy!
II'll tell you right now that it's unnecessary to wear a retainer on the top set whether it's glued on or the kind you put on and take off because at least for me, I've never used mine since like a month after they came off and my top set hasn't reverted back at all. That's not the case for everyon...

Re: Worried About Permanent Retainer; Permanent Retainer Questions
Having a permanent retainer can be a pain in the ass because it makes it difficult to floss and it breaks quite easily if you bite into hard foods, but it's not painful per se.

Re: Permanent Retainer
I personally hate my permanent retainer and have read stories about people whose teeth have shifted because they didn't notice that their permanent retainer had broke, so you should definitely look at it with a hand mirror every once in a while to make sure it's still in place.

Your facial features will go back to normal once the braces are removed.
I think you need to ask yourself if you would rather have a "chubby" face for a little while or crooked teeth for the rest of your life?
