Braces are a Piece of Cake

I haven't been on here in a long time but was on here multiple times a day when I first got my braces. No pictures to upload now but I'll try and do some soon. Just wanted to let anyone with new braces on here looking for support know that, for me anyway, braces became just another part of my life. ...

Preventing Ulcers

Ulcers have been a real problem for me lately and they never have been before so I am guessing this is a braces thing. I did some online research and thought I would share just in case anyone else has the same problem. Here is what I found: In some cases, switching toothpastes can prevent mouth ulce...

Update

I went and had the little wires that were bugging me snipped closer. The ortho student dude told me next time to come right in and get them snipped. That was about a week ago and I have not had to use any wax since then. I have now had braces for nearly a month and I actually have started forgetting...

The ortho student who has my case will be in the program for the entire time I will be needing to go so he should be working me the whole time. He was a dentist for a long time before this so he knows what he is doing. After every th...

Thanks. I never get canker sores and I am only getting them where the wires are sticking out. I will go in and get them clipped more.
Thanks for the reply.

Questions about Wax

1.) I have been using a huge amount of Wax on the 4 wires that point out in the back of mouth. Am I supposed to be letting it get toughened up? I notice on here some people seem to get sore other places but so far, that seems to be the worst part for me. 2.) I have been buying Butler G.U.M. Orthodon...

I have had my braces on for over a week now and I have attended several big meetings and presentations and I have found it's not a problem at all. I was afraid they would be a problem when trying to communicate but I am very glad that no one seems to notice or if they did it wasn't a big deal.

Memphis

It's a long drive but if Memphis is an option, you can check out The UT Dental School. It's $3,000 for the whole thing.

These pointy wires hurt

Just out of curiosity, just how long are these pointy wires in the back of mouth supposed to be? I keep sticking wax on them but it seems to me like they should make a tiny little plastic cap orthodontists can stick on them. This is just my first week but when I go back I am going to ask the doc to ...
