Re: Surgery and work
Thanks guys...this gives me an idea at least. It sounds like I would actually miss less work than I was expecting so thats good. How long would you recommend needing someone to help take care of you/your home? A few days at most? How long did you have to sleep upright? I cannot, for the life of me,...

Re: Surgery and work
The surgeon had to make 2 tiny incisions to be able to put some screws in the plate for my lower jaw.CCinBraces wrote:Why the two incisions on the outside?Branwillaws wrote:Another quick point. I had 2 incisions on the outside for my lower jaw and now I can't even tell so I'm happy about that.

Re: Surgery and work
Yeah. And also every surgeon says different things. My surgeon strongly encouraged that I try and walk around and such. But like I said I'm in the military (Canadian airforce) and my maxo surgeon is also in the military. I see him on Monday and I'm suppose to go back to work Tuesday with a nice big ...

Everyone is different obviously. I was walking outside 5km on the 4th day. So I guess it really depends.

Re: Surgery and work
I got 30 days off. I'm in military. But to be honest 2 weeks is enough unless your job is very physical. I'm going back to work next week but I'm going to be on light duty for another couple weeks.

Re: Permanent Retainer is a PAIN! :(
I'm curious as to why I haven't seen anyone suggest a waterpik? I hate flossing and especially with braces I don't floss at all and I know most don't either lol but invest a little into a waterpik it's my saving grace.

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.
I break most the rules, i eat whatever i want, chips, chocolate almonds, twizzlers. I never floss. takes to much time, but i do use prevident toothpaste and use the gum picks, also just recently bought and started using a waterpik, other than it making a mess sometimes and being loud, its great. im ...

Re: Severe nose bleeds post op.
Yeah I have just lots of uncomfortable feelings not really pain. I haven't had any more nosebleeds by the way. I still spit out little chunks of blood. I have always suffered with nasal problem and nasal drip. The mornings are a bit brutal sometimes trying to clear out my throat.

Re: June 2016 Surgery Buddies
The incision is above the gum line. I see no reason why you can't move your lip from resting on your braces. Just gently pinch your lip and move it a bit. With the swelling it's really hard to disturb the sutures.

Re: June 2016 Surgery Buddies
My swelling peaked on day 3 ( the first 3 days are the worst) after a week the swelling will start to go away. I'm 23 days post op and 90% of the swelling is gone. The inside of my mouth is sore and beat up from my braces though.

Re: Severe nose bleeds post op.
Update: I have stopped using my ibuprofen 600mg after my last crazy nose bleed (Friday late afternoon) and it's been ok I would still like to see if I can a whole week without having one. Has anyone else experience nose bleeds like this post op? I'm assuming that taking a blood thinning medicine cou...

Re: Asymmetry need help
I had SARPE surgery to expand my palate, was a piece of cake to be honest. I was in and out of the hospital. It's a fairly "easy" and common procedure.
