i've had mine on for a week and i have to say, after a few days of having my mouth shredded, my mouth seems to have toughened to a point where i can function. The pressure on my teeth has been a bit more than i thought it would be, but i have been managing ok as long as i don't attempt to eat anythin...

ok - it's been about 6 hours since i have been braced (pics, of course, to come) and i have to say that this is definietly an experience like no other. To start, i enjoyed that brief period between getting the spacers out and getting the bands fitted. If i could have eaten an ear of corn right there...

congrats on taking the plunge and i am glad that you found a solution that is a bit more suitable for you than the veneers. I am not one for artificial coverings on the teeth for aesthetic purposes...

same here - i'm a biter / chewer, though since i have the spacers in, my teeth are too sensitive to mindlessly nibble on my cuticles. I think onle i have the braces on, it will totally break me of the habit!! woo hoo!

they're not nearly as bad as i thought they'd be. Granted, i only have 4 in, but i adjusted to them quickly. I just feel a bit like i really want to floss... but can't where they are... on well, just 2 days until my b-day!! i'll post pics!

thanks for the words of encouragement. Like i said, for me it will be a positive side effect. My jaw is pretty bad - my dentist said it dislocated itself and i, without realizing, relocate it constantly. It bears mentioning that me dentist is my cousin, so she see's me frequently and for long length...
