Re: Nearly finished but now have overjet :(
It depends on how big the overjet is. Ask for stainless steel posted archwire (the elastics go on the posts / hooks) and work amazingly well for reducing overjets.

Re: How far can my teeth be pulled down
Yes, this is one of the easiest and fastest movements that happen with braces. As long as there is enough root, it will be fine.

Re: Underdeveloped maxilla (top arch)
Had a very narrow palate before braces (but thankfully it was mostly dental) so things have really widened out with just archwires alone. I was researching palatal expanders prior to braces and I'm glad I didn't go with that option.

Re: Ligatures on one bracket looks weird after adjustment-thoughts?
Looks like the powerchain has slipped off the bottom of the bracket. If they want to change the levels of the tooth heights then will need to reposition the brackets or put a step bend in the archwire.

Everything looks better in the new pics in my eyes. The bite and entire facial profile looks much better not to mention the whole list of benefits.
Sorry if this sounds a bit blunt but what's the concern?

Re: They're off and I'm not happy
I really wouldn't stress about it at all. You've got perfectly straight teeth a great smile. So on the positive side this wouldn't take long to improve things since the alignment is completed. If you are set on getting the overjet reduced, I would get a range of options if the current ortho is unwil...

Re: They're off and I'm not happy
Your teeth look good before and after. Although, my guess is the NHS only provided treatment based on the health of the impacted tooth so didn't make provisions for the overjet? Either way, they could have easily finished the oclussal (or at least reduced the overjet) if they placed molar tubes on t...

Re: They're off and I'm not happy
It does look like you would have needed some class II elastics to close out the overjet. I had something similar (worse actually - 11mm overjet) was pretty much reduced to 0mm with archwire hooks and elastics. Unfortunately it's a bit late to request this as would need to rebond the brackets again. :?

Re: Adult braces resulting in noticeable facial asymmetry
Yes, it's not ideal, but to be honest I've pointed it out to friends and family and they fail to spot it. The camouflage brackets means putting the brackets slightly on an angle to tilt the front two teeth into more upright position. The orthodontist can miss it on an xray but they should really hav...

Re: warning for people getting braces
Send a clear and concise email letter to the dental practice. This is exactly what I did and got my Six Month Smiles money refunded in about a month (£2500). I threatened to complaint to the general dental council and seek legal advice. Thankfully I also took pre photos and mid photos (with good ema...

Re: Retraction and narrow dental arch: Damon braces only, OR ALF appliance then Damon braces for a non-extraction case?
This is a terrible story and yet again, all comes down to these damn powerchains causing the arches to retract! These things can cause some serious issues in the wrong hands and make it really difficult to correct. I know this is an old post but I would say get a variety of consultations and ask the...

Re: 6 month smile Speech issues
This sounds exactly like I had last year. I got conned into Six Month Smiles without realising. The 'dentist' did exactly the same thing. I had a bit of an overbite so he decided to IPR every single upper tooth apart from the back molars and then used a power chain across the top. What happened is m...

Re: Adult braces resulting in noticeable facial asymmetry
Oh I should have added (can't seem to edit my post), the braces wouldn't have caused the asymmetry. They can only move teeth through existing bone. Also it's normal to temporarily lose a bit of muscle tone with braces due to avoiding crunching on hard foods (like crunchy snacks, nuts, tough meat, ra...

Re: Adult braces resulting in noticeable facial asymmetry
Hi there, if it helps I'm exactly the same position. Basically if your jaws are canted (noticed on the left and right molar heights) the straight wire braces will slant the entire front row of teeth. The only solution is camouflage bracket placement (maybe some elastics on one side to take the edge ...

Re: Braces due to come off on Wednesday, but I am extremely unhappy with how they look (PHOTOS PROVIDED)
Yes, looks like the orthodontic woork and bite is fine. Vaneers would be an idea but you might want to discuss with the ortho as it looks like the gumline is quite higher (where the lateral insisors would normally be).
To be honest I didn't notice it until it was pointed out.
