Re: A gift to myself - at 37. All sorts of crazy inside.
They can feel a little loose. Mine also "pop" when I move my tongue against them after an adjustment. It is kind of scary. I just remind myself of the x-rays and just how deep teeth are into the gums and they wont just fall out. I had braces as a teen, and I remember them also feeli...

Re: A gift to myself - at 37. All sorts of crazy inside.
Haven't been on in awhile ... had my appointment today and x-rays. Power chained top and bottom. OMG ow. But, I am super impressed with the progress!! He said in 4 weeks they will reposition some of the brackets. It is just baffling to be that they can move teeth with such precision. I have about 8 ...

Re: Regretting my decision
I'll echo everyone else. It gets better. I am still new to it all, but it feels like forever! The good part about that is I nearly forget they are on there. Adjustments bring it back quickly, but once the pain fades it's normal again. A girl at my kids daycare was like "Aw you are so cute!"...

Re: A gift to myself - at 37. All sorts of crazy inside.
Thanks guys :D The pain hung around for 5 days or so, I am good now. I go back on 7/13. The bottom gap must be closing more, as I am actually getting food stuck in it. LOL. Exciting! I am good! My kids are out of school for the summer so they are happy ... my significant other and I (feels weird to ...

Re: Feel too old for this
I definitely feel too old for this. I just joined this forum as I have my first orthodontic appt in a couple weeks, at age 37. I had braces in middle school, but still have a lot of issues with my bite. I didn't even know corrective jaw surgery was a thing until recently, so to think that I might b...

Re: Joining the Club
Welcome! I was approved for Invisalign, but in the end decided to go with plain metal brackets. I just knew I would leave them out longer than I was supposed to and taking them out each time I drank anything other than water worried me. I would lose them, I just knew it. So I figured if they glue th...

Wow, your post made me cry but mostly it is because I am so very proud of you. I am so very sorry about your BFF but the beauty of that is the gifts she gave you. The strength she gave you to do things for yourself and be happy in this world! In so many ways she is still here as you move through th...

Re: A gift to myself - at 37. All sorts of crazy inside.
Tomorrow I am getting the dreaded power chain. He said to take motrin before the appointment and to eat. I have the rest of the gap to close on the bottom and he said that will close rapidly and be done in less than 30 days. I am trying to decide if I am going to go with the off white tooth colored ...

The observation on what comes out in the sink made me laugh and grimace at the same time.
So true.
The other week I had salad. A full 8-10 hours later it seemed 1/2 of it came out in the sink. So. Gross.

Exactly 2 months in ... (pics)
Ok so I had a tooth removed on the bottom on 3/21 and braces placed the same day (that was FUN!) and here is two month progress! I think I can tell more of a difference because they are my teeth, but wow. I am super impressed. Also, let this be a disclaimer that up-close photos of my mouth are not a...

Re: Clear brackets versus metal
I am not trying to hide my braces after I get them. Actually I think my colored bands will show up better with the clear brackets. I am excited about getting braces. And will wear them proudly as they straighten my teeth. My date for brackets on upper teeth is June 7th. Now to decide on the first c...

Re: does this happen often or no?
I'll echo everyone else and say wax. It happens to me within a couple days of an adjustment, or even randomly when I have a day my teeth hurt, the next day a wire will be poking out. It's a good sign, actually, the wire has moved with your teeth and aligned differently. If you think about it, if you...

Re: Has anyone else experienced tiredness or other medical conditions?
I'm the opposite. My morning headaches have stopped since I had braces put on. And oddly enough...the heart palpitations I'd been having? Have all but stopped as well. Coincidence? I'm afraid to mention it to my ortho for fear he'll think I'm wacko. Me too!!! Well, they haven't stopped, but I still...
