I seem to be noticing that very small hole you are mentioning between the front teeth, too! I can feel the floss go through "too easily". I don't go back to my ortho until April. I am going to wait and ask then about the settling. Unless of course I notice more gaps and changes before then...

I also have an Essix retainer. My ortho said anytype of denture cleanser is fine. I drop them in the cleanser while I take a shower, and pop them back in after I'm done getting ready for the day. Otherwise, I bought a small head toothbrush (the kind kids use) and simply brush them with COLD water ea...

Hey! In regard to your post, I am getting guiltier by the day of not wearing my Essix enough. I'm ...."Just a substitute".... too! At times I feel my slurring and spitting interferes too much, so I keep it out when I am teaching. When I know I won't have to do as much talking during the da...

Do you know what is worse than it being on your brackets................the lipstick being on your retainer!!! I am currently wearing the Essix (invisalign type). I now have the problem of the lipstick staining that - and rubbing off onto it all day long! I TOO am going to go get that perm...

I had this done several times at the beginning of my treatment. For me it was quite painful. :x I had a lot of crowding and overlapping on my lowers. The sandpaper file was forced between the teeth and he sanded back and forth. At times it felt like my head was coming off, because of the motion. :( ...

One month! since being debanded!!

I cannot believe it has been one month already since I got debanded! It feels so great to be brace free for the holidays. I will be smiling in ALL my photos, hahha  However, I have had some negative results from the Essix retainers: 1. Everytime you want to eat or drink you have to take them o...

Hey guys!!! Well it has been about 2 wks. since I was debanded and have been wearing my retainers as directed by my ortho. Hey There
I had my ceramics on for 16 mos. (tops) and my lowers were metal (12 mos.) I was debanded on Nov. 8. I was estimated for 18-24 mos. So, I guess I got done sooner than expected, but then EVERY mouth is different. :o

Hang in there! It is worth it in the end!! :D

EyeHartEwe I was wondering what type of retainer you have. :?: I was debanded on Nov. 8th and have Essix (invisalign type). I hate it. :!: It is really hard getting used to this thing in my mouth. Braces were so much easier to take care of. I like the look, but man is it a nuisance!!!

Well, I called my dentist who I trust and have seen for 30 yrs. (not my ortho - cause he was out of town). He told me that the retainers are for retention purposes and it is expected for them to come IN and OUT Of the mouth regularly . :) I don't snack on SWEETS - - but like Karen said I eat 4-5 sma...

Noppi I was originally sentenced to 18-24 mos. I just got mine off this week at 16 mos! My teeth moved really quick too! Just remember one thing, your teeth visibly look straight, but your roots & nerves of the teeth are still moving and getting into position. . . . . So being patient is worth ...
