Re: 28 year old fast braces
I felt the exact some way as you before getting them. It literally took six years of thinking about it before I got the courage to go for it! I think the thing you'll find really surprising, is that it might look like they aren't moving but then suddenly it will free up and then it'll feel so worth ...

Re: The Beginning of Six Month Smiles at 26
Thank you so much! I had my first wire change 2 months in and then went up gradually to the square ones in month 4 I think. My bottoms has gone down a wire with the power chain to allow some mobility. I am super excited. I spent so much of my life hating my smile and now I can't stop! I hope your tr...

Power chain is torture...
Update! Nearing the end! My appointments are now ten days apart which is great because I have been wearing a power chain for two days and my god the pain. It's the same level of pain as week 1 in braces. Seriously. So the bottoms are basically there and we have a few tweaks on top. She put some heft...

Three Weeks To Go!!
Three weeks to go! Just tweaking one of my canines as it needs to rotate. Starting to really worry about retention. Should be getting fixed and removable retainers. Eep.

Re: The ending!
Hi everyone! So I am now in rectangular archwires and I tentatively have only 6 weeks to go! I have one more appointment to discuss if I'm happy with everything or if something needs adjusting but I'm almost there! I'm a bit worried about relapse but I'll ask her about that at the next meeting! One ...

Re: Coil Springs, UHHH
I had one on my bottom arch. It was very painful at first but soon it settled down. I mostly ate rice and rice pudding! As it was on one side I tended to try and chew on the other. I found ibuprofen really helped to manage the pain. Take care x

Re: Did your face shape change after braces?
I'm mid treatment but my lips appear much fuller and I think my face looks squarer (in a good way!). So far I am very pleased!

Re: Brown Spots.
It's hard to say without pics or being an actual dentist lol. My guess would be either staining or decay/arrested decay depending on colour. It could be lots of things but I'm sure if it was something concerning your dentist would have mentioned it. X

Update month 3
Hi everyone! So I'm up to 0.018 on top and still 0.016 on bottom. I went to see my dentist after my bracket broke off she just removed it so I had this really annoying gap in my braces and food kept getting stuck in it. They attached a new one two weeks later, they had to re bond it three times beca...

Re: Sleep and biting inside of mouth
I'm glad someone else has this! I have a patch of rough skin on one side that I chew in my sleep! I'm hoping it will get better with time and sadly have no suggestions. Not very helpful, but I feel your pain!

Broken bracket!
The inevitable has happened! I went to dinner with my boyfriend for his birthday and I ate sweet potato fries. One bit was too crispy and my bracket rebounded. It then managed to flip it's self over so the cement side was facing outwards and cutting into my cheek! I've managed to get it back where i...

Re: 6 month smile journey
Hi, great progress you must be really pleased! I found with 6ms that my bite has changed several times. At first my arch was more v shaped and teeth tipped in so the front teeth stuck out. My arch has started rounding and there's more room in the front for the wire to pull them back in. I also think...

Re: The Beginning of Six Month Smiles at 26
Thanks everyone! The pain has more or less gone now. The new thicker wire seems to be doing its job! This is today: WP_20160527_002.jpg The front is looking so much straighter. I'm really worried that I'll be left with an overbite but we'll have to see. I'm fairly sure im worrying needlessly. I can'...
