Re: Mouthwash vs no Mouthwash

I agree that the waterpick is the best invention since sliced bread. My routine is waterpick, then sonicare toothbrush on clean/whiten, then at night I add fluoride mouthwash made for braces...can't remember who makes it. I am at work or I'd go look. (wait, should I be working??) Seriously, I come h...

Re: Bite feels unnatural?

I just wanted to jump in and say don't feel crazy. I worry about the same thing all the time. They always tell me to bite down and they look. Later I worry if I closed my mouth the "right" way because it has felt different every day since they put the braces on so I don't know what the cor...

Braced Musicians

Hi! I was just wondering how many of you here are musicians and how braces have effected your performing? Especially some of you who may be in marching band. Can you still play the instruments? I can't even imagine what it is like. Personally I am a drummer (5 pc classic rock band) and didn't think ...

Re: Can't drink without swishing

With practice I have found that I can swish pretty well without using much water and targeting an area. I sometimes just put my napkin up to my mouth for a brief moment. Friends don't mind and I don't think from a distance it is very noticeable. If its a lot of food I will definitely get up and go t...

I was the same.....barely any pain for months. But just wait and hang in there because soon you'll start to see things. It is amazing and inspiring! I have taken pictures every week and I look at them all the time for inspiration. Let me see if I can add pictures for you.... I take pics from the fro...

Re: The worst part of having braces

I agree that at first it was the bite blocks. Then elastics. Now I think it is that every time they adjust, my bite changes again and it is uncomfortable for awhile. I had some kind of wire fall off when I was brushing my teeth this week. It wasn't an archwire but something about an inch and a half ...

Re: Braces journey starting 2016-03-17

Hi gobraces! I haven't been on here in awhile and just now read through your posts. I started my journey in February and in reading your story it matches mine nearly word for word. Hasn't it been fun? I am going for my next adjustment on Oct 25th. So far, it seem like my bite changes nearly every da...

Re: just got braces at age 45

Welcome! I'm an over-40 too and into my 6th month I'm not regretting it at all. My teeth sound similar to yours I had 4 pulled too and so far into my treatment not too much pain except for during adjustments. My eyes water a little but the pain is gone by the time I leave the orthodontist. It helps ...

Re: Any Words of Wisdom Prior to Getting Braces?

All of the above I agree with. But I must add- Be kind to yourself. If you feel down come here and read/ask questions. This place has kept me sane. If you can afford to get an electronic toothbrush (I like my Sonicare but there are other good ones) and a water pick. I think the water pic is one of t...

6 Months in.....

Hi Everyone! Looking to you who have been "embraced" for awhile for your experiences: Just prior to braces I had 4 teeth total pulled -two top bicuspids (one on each side) and the two bottom (one on each side). A couple of weeks later I got the Damon ceramics and wires. Since then they add...
