Re: Post-Surgery Breathing

I had double jaw surgery and had plates installed by my nose which I think caused the problems breathing. When I was in the hospital, it was a little annoying but I could breathe out of my mouth. I was given saline I could use anytime, and Afrin that I was told only to use for three days, because af...

Re: For how long have you been housebound after surgery?

I was driving by second week and going to the store. Nothing for too long because I would get tired afterwards. I was able to go on walks. My surgeon recommended no strenuous exercise for six weeks. I am on week 3 and feel pretty good. I am able to hang out with my friends for longer. I will have to...

Re: Brushing inside

Are you still icing? I still ice every night and I think it helps with the swelling. Ibuprofen if you are allowed as well. Don't worry, you will get there :D

Re: Brushing inside

Hey, I had surgery 2/11. Are your incisions healed? I found when I had blood it was because my incisions weren't healed. I used wax on my hooks to prevent them poking into my incisions as it was hurting the healing process. After a couple days of this, I could brush without blood. At first I wasn't ...

Re: Recovery from orthognathic surgery before you can talk again

I work in a job where I talk all day. I was really worried but my surgeon told me I should take three days weeks off. I am on my last week off and I can talk. It is a little lispy but people can understand me fine. I have rubber bands on the sides of my teeth and I think they cause the lisp. I could...

I also brought a picture of my puppy for my hospital table and it cheered me up. Was also a good ice breaker with the nurses.

Re: PRE & POST-OP SUPPLY LIST---add your list or ideas

Wax for your braces!! After surgery my hooks kept digging into my incisions and they hurt so bad. I think it inhibited the healing. I started using wax all day and night on the hooks, and it helped heal it much faster. I was able to brush my teeth much better because the incisions were healing. Befo...
