Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Any fast swelling strategies? I'm nearly six weeks post and I still have a bit of stubborn swelling that puffs up in the morning. I have some grand plans for New Year's Eve, so if I could minimize the swelling by as much as possible, that would be fantastic. Any ideas? Massages, contrast baths, die...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hey, everyone! Sorry for dropping off the radar after surgery! I know some of you checked out my blog, but if you didn't, I had double jaw surgery on November 10th. My top jaw was moved around 4 mm and my bottom jaw on one side was moved 17mm and on the other side was moved 14mm. So, I had some pret...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I just got my surgical wires and hooks put on this morning! So strange. I thought I was a metal mouth before. Now, it's just wires all over the place. I guess I can now fit in with the name "metal mouth message board". ;) Hey td, just wanted to say good luck to you this week. I'm heading ...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I'm 13 days out from surgery. The nerves are starting to kick in! I've started a blog ahead of time to let my friends and family know what's going on. I figured I would share it here too for anyone interested: http://timsdoublejawsurgery.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-journey-to-bionic-man.html Good Luck...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Regretting the bone graft. I think this is the reason that side of my face looks like a softball in it. The other side the swelling has gone down dramatically. I'm sorry to hear about all the swelling! I hope you're able to look back and have good results from it. In the meantime, I'm sure it's pre...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Pre-op appointment yesterday and surgical hooks today. Very excited and anxious. Hard to focus on everything (stinks cause I have a lot of work to do before I leave for this surgery!). The orthodontist office is super excited, ha ha. They are all waiting to see how things are going to turn out. The...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
Hello all, Im having my surgery on next Thursday so less then a week. Praying for the best and no nerve issues. Thats my biggest fear since I have already had my IAN nerve injured over a year and a half ago with a dental implant. Don't worry it healed quickly, but it makes me scared to go in to do ...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I just got my measurements today for my jaw surgery tomorrow. It's a Lefort I with an IVRO and a genioplasty. He did not give me my genioplasty measurements but the largest movement is slightly above 1mm on my top jaw for the lefort. All the other movements are about .5 mm. The only reason I needed...

Re: Fall/Early Winter 2016 Surgery Buddies
I was wondering if anyone knows what to expect at my last orthodontic adjustment before surgery. Mine is on 09/26 to have surgical hooks, surgical wires, etc. Surgical work up with scans, etc. is on October 14 and surgery isn't until November 10. Will they still use the power chains I've had on? Or...

Re: Last adjustment before Orthognathic Surgery question
Thank you all for the replies! I ended up having a normal adjustment today. The orthodontist decided to try and close the gaps before surgery. New wires and power chains on bottom with a double power chain between the two teeth with the bigger gap. So, I will not have the surgical hooks and surgical...

Re: Surgery Scheduled!!!
I don't know if I should be excited for both of us or saying "Good thing we aren't going into this alone"? Ha ha ha!!! Seriously, though, it's good to know others going through the process and since you'll be a few weeks ahead of me, you can let me know how it went. If you don't mind me a...
