I'm afraid nothing can keep me from my beloved popcorn. Those hulls are quite painful though! It's such a wonderful feeling when you finally get it out.

Debanding Date Set!!

I got my debanding date!! January 28th. This is just 3 months over my 2 year estimated time and I am thrilled so far with everything. We spent the last 2 months perfecting my midline. My ride is not over. I will be getting a porcelain veneer put on my right lateral which is very small (peg). Then as...

It is my understanding that a bit of the enamel is etched off to prepare teeth for veneers. That would, I would think, prohibit you from removing them and going back to your natural teeth. If you are unhappy with their appearance you could talk to your dentist about redoing them to be more natural i...

I have spent a large portion of my time in braces in full time 24/7 elastics of some kind. It is in fact very very important that you comply with your elastics regimen exactly as it is prescribed. It has been my experience that elastics may seem not to do anything at first, and if you don't wear the...

I just wanted to say that this thread has me SOOO freaking excited!! I had a missing lateral, and that is the reason I got braces. All my teeth had moved forward to fill the gap and I ended up with my midline shifted an entire tooth to one side. (The dreaded "middle tooth") I had barely an...

I sing too. My problems are with "f" and "v" words. Actually, though, I've been told the rest of my diction is actually better because I'm just more focused on it. I was much more self conscious about it early on. You'll soon forget you even thought about it!

Hi, I had this very elastic and for the very same reason - to correct a crossbite. When putting it on, put the inside side on first, then out to the outside. (if it's on the right side, use your right hand) I really didn't have trouble with them breaking, but if you do ask your ortho for an extra ba...

I may be using the wrong terminology. I do have the single loose tooth that is just attached to the wire via a bracket. You definitely should be careful, but I have had zero problems with it with normal use. Here is a picture of my tooth. It's my left lateral (right as you're looking at it) It is ho...

I have a "flipper" as it's called, and mine has never fallen out. They are very good about using wire ties to make sure it's secure. It's still wiggly, and I don't think you can help that (Especially if it's on a round wire) but you will get used to it. I've had my flipper in for over a ye...

Oral Surgeon Consult

At my last adjustment with the ortho, I was told we're on to fixing the midline, and that's the last thing, so we'll see how that goes. I'm wearing the right class II elastic full time, and the left just at night. It's not moving quickly, but I'm sure after 29 years it's a bit stubborn. My next adju...

Consult Appointment/Oral Surgeon

Since the shock of being told I'm almost done, I went to my dentist to have a cleaning and have him check out my "peg" lateral that will need some work done to match my new implant for the other lateral. He suggested a porcelain veneer as opposed to bonding. I've done some research on the ...

I am totally having this experience right now - for several reasons! For one, I have a flipper in place for one lateral that's missing, then I have a smaller peg type lateral that will get bonded some time to match the implant I'm getting for the missing lateral, I'm not sure when. For those things,...

Adjustment Summary

I had an adjustment on Monday and talked to the ortho about the rest of my treatment. As a recap, I have 1 missing lateral and the other lateral is peg shaped. I have a flipper filling the gap from my missing lateral where I will be getting and implant and the peg shaped lateral will be built up wit...

I also had a crossbite on one side. It was corrected using elastics. My ortho said that the crossbite wasn't skeletal, more of slanting teeth. Of course everyone's teeth and ortho are different so your case could certainly be different.

Good Luck!
