Re: How is everyone going with their braces?

Hi, I'm 13 months in, with an anticipated sentence of 24 months, however, my orthognathic surgery was supposed to be after 12 months of braces, and that still is stretched to at least April. :| I'm not sure if this also stretches out my sentence for braces, but either way, I hardly notice them there...

Re: Braces before surgery was quite 9800 does that sound reasonable
It seems like the relationship between Ortho and OMFS is very important for care coordination.
YES! I'm actually trusting my ortho at this point, because I have yet to even talk to my surgeon, but I went with that particular surgeon because my orthodontist office ...

Re: Braces before surgery was quite 9800 does that sound reasonable

I think it's all demographically based. My braces were about $7,500. My upper jaw surgery -- going to Seattle for it -- will be about $9k in total (hospital fees/anesthesiologist/etc.) plus travel costs.

Re: six month misery

My ortho office called them "turbo bites". Two were attached to the inside of my upper front teeth. They were actually, in my case, meant to prevent my bottom teeth from hitting the upper brackets, so it wasn't that bad for me. They were still really annoying, as food would get lodged up a...

Re: Did your orthodontist overestimate how long you were going to be in braces for

In short: Yes! I had braces put on in January 2015. I was told it'd be a year later that I'd be going under the knife. Well, in November the ortho said, "ehh, it's looking more like March-ish for your surgery. I still want to see this and this move a little." At my last appointment, which ...

Re: Summer 2016 Surgery Buds

I'll be having surgery, tentatively, around April-July, hopefully! I got braces on January 2015, with an anticipated surgery for a year after...well that has come and gone, my next ortho appointment is April, so I assume that's when they may set a date. drgnfly is correct, though, you just never kno...

Re: Thinking about jaw surgery

On a cosmetic basis, you may think you look fine, which is awesome, but no matter how "mild", I think having a misaligned jaw can lead to problems down the road. If you have the means to correct your bite now, I'd do it.
