I wear elastics at night and I keep having dreams where I have a mouthful of something very chewy that I can't spit out! Like a baseball-sized wad of gum or a mouth full of tree sap.
Anyone else having elastic-inspired dreams?

Re: Who here has had surgery for long face syndrome or vertical maxillary excess?
I was diagnosed with skeletal open bite, which is another way of saying long face syndrome. I'm still in recovery (almost 4 weeks post-op). You can check my instagram in my signature. Did you notice a significant difference in your facial height? It's noticeable. My lower face (from top of lips to b...

Re: Post surgery
I had my upper jaw expanded during my surgery (2 piece Lefort) and experienced the same discomfort. Your palate is sore from being stretched. Swallowing and talking made it worse. It will feel better around Week 3. Hang in there!

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies
Another one here! Having my SARPE this coming Wednesday Feb 15th. Installed the expander last Thursday and I'm already used to swallowing. Speaking is kind of lame, also because English is my third language. Hoping that everything goes well! Good luck tomorrow! Had double jaw surgery on February 7t...

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies
Hey All! I'm 4 days post-op and still struggling with "eating" because everything seems too thick and to just get trapped in my mouth. Water goes down easy but the soups and smoothies not so much. I almost feel like when I eat, the liquids fill up my sinuses and clog me up so it feels unc...

Clicking/popping in sinuses after upper jaw surgery
Anyone else have this happen? I'm 3 weeks post-op and when I push on my upper palate sometimes my sinuses have tiny little clicks or pops. This isn't my TMJ, it's like, up where the cuts were made and it's sort of freaking me out. I'm seeing my surgeon next week so I'll ask about it then, just wonde...

Pictures here: https://www.instagram.com/jawsurgery.dani/ Well you look great! I'm sure you're very happy with your aesthetic results :) How's your bite and lip incompetence now? Thank you! It's too early to tell about bite, unfortunately. I bite *perfectly* but that's because I have a splint in my...

Re: January - March 2017 Surgery Buddies
I haven't posted for a while but thought I'd join this thread. Pictures here: https://www.instagram.com/jawsurgery.dani/ Surgery was Jan 17 and I am 3 weeks post-op. I had double jaw surgery (2-piece lefort + BSSO; no genioplasty) for open bite, class II, and crossbite. Surgery was 3.5 hours. A spli...

What really helped you after your surgery?
There's already great threads about the stuff, but what did people do that made your recovery better?
Did someone help you with your meds? Or do your housework for a couple weeks?
Also, on the flip side, what do you wish people did for you to help your recovery?

Resurrecting this ancient thread because I'm curious -- any post-surgery people with a new voice?
