Re: Self-litigating braces I gates continually opening
what type of self ligating braces do you have? I have the H4 type and havent had any trouble with them so far but its been a 2 weeks though I actually can't remember! Mine wasn't a problem at the start with the thin wires, they seem to have become an issue with the thicker wires and as time went on...

Re: Self-litigating braces I gates continually opening
Also re last time I went back and they closed the gate. Did I mention I live an hours drive from my orthodontist? So it's not an easy thing I can just quickly "swing by" for - it takes over two hours out of my day. I have zero faith in self-litigating braces after this experience. I'm so c...

Re: Self-litigating braces I gates continually opening
Well I'm due to get them off tomorrow and Lo and behold!!!! I noticed a bottom tooth has become slightly crooked and the gate is open. I am so disheartened by this whole experience. They open after every freakin time I have the wires changed unless I have power chains. If they tell me they won't tak...

Self-litigating braces I gates continually opening
I have an appointment to have a gate closed that has opened approx 1 week after a wire change. This is the fourth time in as many months. I only notice them open when my teeth start looking atrocious. Is this a common thing with self-litigating braces? This is including doing the right thing by not ...

Re: Tooth looking worse rather than better with final wires
Might be something your ortho can remedy quickly, so absolutely get in touch and express your concerns. Best of luck with your delivery! Thank you! I was leaning toward that but was concerned about coming across as being a bit petty given its only been two days. You're right though, if it needs rem...

Tooth looking worse rather than better with final wires
I have my final wires on, had my appointment two days ago and they gave me two appointments: one in 7 weeks for a final checkup and a date for them to come off in 8 weeks. My 'bad' tooth is suddenly looking SO much worse. Could it just be a case of it getting worse before it gets better? In my exper...

Re: Trying to get pregnant - with braces
Congratulations! Did you check out this posting? http://www.archwired.com/Pregnancy1.htm Since pregnancy impacts your hormones and may affect your pain threshold you might want to consider mentioning it to your ortho. I hadn't seen that posting yet - that's a great read! Thank you! I completely und...

Re: Trying to get pregnant - with braces
Another thing I hadn't considered: pregnancy gingivitis. I was lucky to escape this with my first pregnancy but the hygienist mentioned I already have a small amount of inflammation. There's nothing I can do to stop/prevent it as it's to do with hormones, so yeah another thing that's not a good comb...

Re: Trying to get pregnant - with braces
Update: I'm now 6 weeks pregnant. That was quick! I haven't told the ortho yet because I haven't been in for a wire change but will at my next appointment. I did have a hygiene appointment and she recommended no xrays and skipped fluoride treatment as an err on the side of caution. So I'll stick wit...

Re: Is there anything you can do to speed your treatment up?
My treatment seems to be going pretty fast and I'll be out of them before my estimated date. I've been wearing elastics as instructed (thankfully in my case only at night!), not eating things like nuts which can break brackets, and keeping them as clean as I can. I suspect good dental hygiene is a p...

'stopper' sliding
I just returned from my ortho appointment and noticed one of the 'stoppers' on the wires I seem to be able to slide between the two teeth. :-+ The other two are secure and I can't move. Haven't eaten since the appointment so it's nothing I've done. I'm getting jack of this because I've had to return...

Re: braces likes and dislikes
My least favourite thing is keeping my braces and my teeth clean... a horrendously long process when wanting to wind down for bed after work

Re: Why would braces make a gap between front teeth
I had the same thing happen when mine went on. I thought maybe to make space for teeth to shift?? Anyway, I liked it
it quickly closed back up and I was disappointed

Re: Ceramic vs Metal braces
I have ceramic self litigating and the ceramic brackets themselves don't stain. From time to time I will have a clear power chain put on which can stain with turmeric and look slightly yellow but, for me, I was to be bridesmaid and needed photos taken during my braces sentence and they barely show i...
