Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Been a long time but life got in the way. Had a major illness and surgery which prevented posting here. Anyway on set 15 - midway and I definitely now have an open bite in the back even when the aligners aren't in. I'm back to four bite ramps as the mess straightens out. My ortho mentioned as I'm no...

Re: Improved Comfort of Invisalign aligners

I never had a problem with tongue side soreness, had some lower lip soreness on the first tray that was sanded down on the next few and haven't had to file anything since. Actually I think that irritation I developed on the first day was my worst experience so far (just because even getting it sande...

Re: Long term dry mouth and adjusting to bands.

Hi I'm new here. I actually just found this board about 30 minutes ago, and I'm very impressed. I've had invisalign for about 2 months and it has been a difficult adjustment, but I tend to be a slow adjuster to new things, so I'm hanging in there. The biggest adjustment has been dry mouth. My ortho...

Re: Anyone have Nickel-Free braces?

One of the main reasons I was undecided about braces was my extreme allergy to nickel. The first ortho I saw said saliva would protect me from my nickel allergy. I found this to be too convenient...when pressed, the ortho couldn't give me another solution. Curious if anyone went the nickel-free rou...

Re: How often are you're checkups (Invisalign)

Hi everyone, Currently getting various quotes from orthos and cosmetic dentists. I've found an orthodontist I'm happy with & the quote is reasonable, my treatment with Invisalign should take 12 months, the only thing that's niggling me is that check ups are stated as every 12 weeks, this seems ...

Deep bite correction: four months in

So since I'm one of the few here that's doing Invisalign for both lower crowding and a deep bite I'd give some info so far. 1) yes, it is working on my bite. I have virtual bite ramps which are slightly annoying but not sharp or painful and I've pretty much gotten used to. 2) Arch development does t...

Re: Severe misalignment but qualified for Invisalign?

I'm not sure if I'm severe but I qualified with a 60% overbite and a lot of lower crowding. Pics in my diary in the link. I ended up with 21 attachments but no IPR and so far (4 months in) my case is tracking nicely. Lower arch is widening and lower molars were bumped back to where my (erupted) wisd...

Re: Progress

The lost aligner is the one thing I haven't yet experienced. I've experienced lost attachments, cracked aligners and the stomach flu (which resulted in needing to remove aligners to vomit) I agree the routine is not that bad once you get used to it and generally your oral health improves during trea...

Re: Will Invisalign fix overbite?

Interestingly enough, I was more concerned about my lower crowding but it was my ortho who was concerned about the deep bite that resulted from that. So that was always part of her plan to fix it. I have the virtual bite ramps and a lot of arch widening built into my plan. I'm four months in and alr...

Re: How often are you're checkups?

Every 2 weeks to change trays, I believe now that 12 weeks is quite normal for anyone who was wondering Thanks! I think it really depends on the ortho I've heard everything from 4 -12 week schedules. It also probably depends on if there's attachments to be added at certain visits or IPR planned for...

Re: How often are your checkups?

I change trays every 2 weeks and go to the ortho every 8, unless there's a problem like an attachment coming off or something. My ortho is flexible and has said I could go 10 weeks between appointments if I need to travel for work or something. My appointments are rapid quick now that all my attachm...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Had what was probably the quickest/easiest cleaning of my life on Friday. When you brush five times a day and floss at least twice there's very little for the hygienist to do besides compliment you on your good hygiene practices lol. On the upside, none of my attachments came off which was my fear. ...

Re: How Many Hours w/o Invisalign is "Bad"?

I'm on Week 2 of my 1st aligner. I'm definitely NOT an expert, but I did give up drinking coffee and tea for this. I'm even too scared to drink my pre-workout drink because the powder colors my lips, let alone what it will do to my attachments. I get my non-water fix at dinner, sometimes lunch. It ...

Re: The feelimg of plastic

Over time you do get used to the plastic feeling and having it in - believe it or not or me after almost 4 months, it seems "natural" Regarding sharp edges: you're going to notice them more at the beginning because it's something foreign in your mouth. You can either file off the offending...
