Broke bite plate--good? bad?

Greetings! Yikes! I'm not sure if this is good or bad. Last night the part of my bite plate that touches my front teeth broke off! Does this mean my bite is fixed and the bite plate isn't needed or is this something I should call my ortho about? I didn't anticipate that happening and he didn't say s...

Thanks for your help--I just wish it wasn't a holiday in some ways so I could get it straightened out right away b/c now the wire is killing me! My ortho said before in the past that I could cut my own wire, but how do I do that? What instrument of torture ; ) ? I tried scissors but that didn't work...

out of town and need ortho help

Happy New Year!!! I'm out of town for the holidays and therefore my ortho isn't accessible. I was out of the country for about a month and two brackets on my furthest back molars came off. I told my ortho and he said no big deal...but now the wire is out of the next bracket, I guess the little band ...

I had similar concerns with online dating but ended up thinking it would be alot weirder to bring it up than to just show up. In fact, my date actually was jealous b/c they were supposed to get braces but didn't have the courage to do it! It was not what I was expecting--pretty funny! So don't wrry ...

I TOTALLY understand, my mom was the same way, as she has been my whole life about braces which is why I'm older and had to get them b/c she refused to let me have them growing up, and it wasn't a money issue...BUT do it while you have your dad's insurance, trust me!!! And now that I have them, she ...

I have had a bite plate for a few months now and don't lisp....sometimes if I talk way too fast and am tired, I have a tiny lisp thingy going on, but usually I'm fine (at least, I think I am...)...
Just talk a whole lot and it will get better hopefully!

count me in!

My nails have gotten SOOO long--longest ever in my life!
I am planning to get a manicure--have never had one!
I wonder if when I get my braces off, I will fall back into the old habit--in the meantime, I'm enjoying having nails for the first time!

doh!

Oh geez... I've had my bite plate in for like a month now. I have been noticing lately that my bite is actually changing and it feels different--in a good way. I just had dinner and took out my bite plate to brush my teeth. I figured while I was at it, I would try closing my mouth without my bite pl...

No worries about foreign languages. I am a linguist and speak more languages than I can keep track of. I am currently also adding Czech and Russian to my arsenal and thought the braces and bite plate would interfere but they don't at all. Sometimes having a bite plate is actually an advantage to mak...

thanks

Thanks to both of you for your posts! I went to the ortho today and had the wire fixed, well, kind of...they had to try so many strategies and finally had to use an electric tooth filer to try and soften the edge... AND then it took forever for them to fix my bite plate...but finally they called in ...

bite plate falling out

Hello! What an eventful week...I got lowers put in and a bite plate a few weeks ago, and my wires have grown and majorly cut up my cheeks...I think it's a good sigh though b/c my teeth have moved alot--the lowers are like almost totally straight after only a few weeks! Anyway, I went yesterday to ha...
