Premolars don't touch on one side
Hi, I'm nearing the end of my treatment, and happy overall, but I've noticed that my premolars on one side do not touch as there is a bend in my lower arch wire which has set my teeth lower. I mentioned this at my last appointment, but the ortho said that she wasn't too concerned as they will move b...

Re: Shaving of the sides of the teeth...
Hi, I've had this done to my lower and upper front four teeth for crowding (had a little done today actually). I understand your concern, I was too and worried that I would end up with slim peg teeth! But I had to trust that the Ortho knew what she was doing and would do a good job. They only take o...

Experience of elastics
Hello, Wondered if people could give me their experiences of wearing elastics. They'll be hooked from top canine to bottom 1st molar. - Are they very restrictive? - How often do they need to be changed? - Can you eat with them in? - Are they difficult to get used to, or are they soon forgotten about...

Re: Did you choose metal braces, or an alternative and why?
I don't understand why people get so concerned over this metal vs ceramic thing. Do what is best for you for whatever reason that may be. Of course, we ALL have bigger things to be concerned with, but that's completely irrelevant. If it makes the person feel more comfortable in their treatment, then...

Hi,
I eat anything. Things like bread do get stuck, but it's nothing a swish of water won't sort out.

Re: How much did you guys pay for your braces?
£3,900 - full ceramic. Interest free 12 month payment plan. Estimated treatment 12-15 months.
I'm happy with this. I live in a expensive London suburb, and chose a consultant orthodontist with a lot of experience. Can't wait for my final payment though!

Re: FastBraces or Traditional
Hi,
I guess fastbraces is like six month smiles? In my opinion, it is not worth saving $1500 to trade the experience and knowledge of an orthodontist for a dentist that has completed a short course.

Re: teeth clenching at night since braces
Hello, I've noticed I do this too. Not sure if it's because of braces or just more noticeable since.
I wear a night guard to stop my molar build ups wearing too quick and breaking off my one remaining turbo.

Re: I'm new - researching for daughter with 11mm overbite
Hello, I think you might mean overjet? As in the top teeth protrude out with a gap between the bottom teeth. You need to have a consultation with an orthodontist (ideally a couple) and get an idea of what would be involved in treatment. It would depend on what causes the overjet - misaligned teeth o...

Re: im wondering how many people actually get braces at a dentist instead of orthodontist?
When I mentioned I was getting braces at a dental appointment, the dentist was very quick to try and sell me six month smiles. I was actually really annoyed that he saw that as a sales pitch moment as I didn't ask for it and had taken time to choose an orthodontist that was highly trained and experi...

When did teeth appear straight & Wire thickness Q
Hi, I've had my lower arch braced now for 2.5 months and am pretty gobsmacked that they appear practically straight already. I'm on a stiffer wire as of yesterday, I guess to make some more subtle movements, but still have 9.5-12.5 months of estimated treatment time to go. I suppose wasn't expecting...

Re: what do/did you hate the most at parts of your treatment?
I'm finding the bite blocks/cement wearing down so fast the most frustrating part. I'm so anxious about it, it drives me crazy. Better the annoyance with eating than teeth coming into contact with brackets. I have both cement build ups on my molars and turbos on the back of my front teeth.
