Re: What mouthwash do you like to use?
I used my regular mouthwash when I first got mine on and boy did it burn. I never saw the appeal of the alcohol free mouthwash before I had braces. Now I use the store brand version of ACT. It has some fluoride in it too. I like to use that after lunch because I don't have my water pick at work. I u...

Re: Plackers Orthopick Flossers
I use these and also super floss if the brackets are too close together for them to fit. You have to be careful. If you try to use it at the wrong angle you will press against the arch wire and risk breaking a bracket. As long as you are being careful and not going too fast, they work great. It save...

Re: The BEST flossing tip I didn't know!
I tried super floss a couple of days after I got my braces on and it was horrible. I gave it another shot a few days later and it wasn't bad. It took a couple of days to get used to. I wouldn't floss a day or so after getting them on or after adjustments if your teeth are really sore.

Re: Weight loss
I've lost a few pounds this first week with braces. I think it was because my teeth hurt so I would eat slowly and not chew so much. I think my stomach had to spend more time digesting so I felt full a lot longer. Also I didn't snack so I didn't have to brush. Now my teeth are getting used to the br...

Re: can you brush your teeth too much?
I brush 3 times a day right after each meal. So far, not wanting to brush again has prevented me from snacking. Make sure your toothbrush has soft bristles to avoid too much wear on the enamel, especially if you brush even more than 3 times a day. Make sure to rinse a bunch too.

Re: What floss for really tight teeth??
I use the Plackers Orthopick and Oral B Superfloss. Both seem to work well with really tight teeth.

Re: Braces newbie at 30
I just got mine last week. I got the clear ones for only the top front 6 teeth to keep the cost down a bit. I was a bit nervous about how I would look in them but I think it turned out good. I can't wait to see how I look in 6 months or so. Right now I am more embarrassed about how they are affectin...

Re: Braces Newbie
I just had mine put on 5 days ago. I am still in the awkward phase. It feels very weird to eat and it's kinda hard to talk properly. I hope I get used to it soon.

Metal mouth at 32
I just had my braces put on today. I've wanted to get my teeth straightened since I was a kid, but I couldn't afford to until now. I wanted to get Invisalign, but my orthodontist said that it probably wouldn't fix my overbite and the crowding on my bottom teeth as good as regular braces. I also read...
