Re: Severe misalignment but qualified for Invisalign?

just want to update that I have 38 trays for each jaw, no attachment so far (in the last 3 months 4 will be put in in the back teeth for the rubber band) and everything has gone very well. I have Acceledent so will finish in a yeat (unsure about the retainer phase though). So looks like Invisalign m...

Re: The feelimg of plastic

Good to know I wasn't the only one aware of the plastic feeling! After almost a month, I've found that when the tray first goes in and is tight, I actually don't notice the plastic much, but after a few days when the tray fits better, I really do notice the feeling of plastic still. It doesn't drive...

The feelimg of plastic

It's my first day. I still can't believe I have no attachments. I have no pain (yet) and the pressure doesn't bother me. The only thing that does is this overwhelming feeling of plastic in my mouth. I have almost no lisp but it really does feel like you're holding something in your mouth...Will this...

Severe misalignment but qualified for Invisalign?

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you has a case that was/is classified as "severe", and yet has successful treatment with Invisalign? I have a 9mm (!) overjet (mostly just one tooth), an overbite (not completely, but significant), crossbite on one side, and overcrowding on both upper and ...

Re: Braces instead of surgery?

I have a very, very similar case! I'm also 28 (but female), have an underdeveloped lower jaw, overjet, and overbite. The orthodontist did tell me that to fix it perfectly, I would need surgery, but she thinks it's not necessary. She said after braces I would still have a very slight overbite, but it...

Re: Confidence

I have yet to get braces but because I have been thinking about it for a long time, I started to notice people with braces. Obviously metal is more noticeable than ceramic, but even then, I get used to seeing people with metal braces after a few minutes. Recently I found myself staring at this one g...

Re: 8MM Overjet - Options?

I have a 9mm overjet and crowding also, and the ortho did mention to me that jaw surgery would help fix it completely, but it is a major surgery and she didn't think I had to have it (I really don't want to do it anyway). Before we did the full consultation (x-ray, mold etc.) she thought I'd need 4 ...

Re: As a bit of of foodie, I'm loving the switch from ceramics to linguals!

This really convinces me of the benefits of lingual! Was your treatment more expensive than usual because you switched from ceramic to lingual? And why did your orthodontist decide to do that (or did you ask for it)? I am thinking of doing the same so was hoping to ask for your experience.
Thanks!

Re: How much time do you spend on braces-related tasks a day? (cooking specific food, cleaning, etc.)

thank you for all the detailed and thoughtful replies! This is so very useful. I expected to spend a lot of time cleaning my teeth with braces, but knowing that people don't have to spend hours on it is reassuring. And the tip about cooking soup to bring to work to avoid having to clean teeth too mu...

How much time do you spend on braces-related tasks a day? (cooking specific food, cleaning, etc.)

Hi all, I am thinking about getting braces (already did the evaluation, the next step is just to get the actual braces but I'm postponing it till I know if I have to move next year), and was just wondering how much time daily I should expect to spend on braces-related tasks such as cleaning teeth, c...

Re: Need advice: getting braces last year of PhD?

Oh sorry I forgot to reply: @jfriend33: I have a pretty bad overbite, and crossbite on one side; this orthodontist is gonna charge me $7000, which is a bit more than I thought (I was hoping for $5000), but it does sound like they have a lot to do (pulling 2 teeth, fixing both top and bottom for over...

Need advice: getting braces last year of PhD?

Hi all, I have been thinking of getting braces, and even went through the whole process of getting the teeth impression, xrays etc. My orthodontist also came up with a plan, and scheduled to put braces on my teeth last week. Unfortunately, I had to cancel the appointment to have more time to think a...
