Re: Finally after 26 years
welcome - I know the feeling about waiting so long to get them on. I'm in same boat and just now have the insurance coverage and funds to get treatment myself. Still have another month to go with my tongue crib and then a lower tooth extracted before the braces can go on. keep us posted on your jour...

Re: Getting an expander at 40+ years old
thanks for sharing your post. I've got a really narrow arch and an expander of some type was discussed as an option in my treatment. My only question was would it really work to expand things in an adult - I'm over 40 and never heard of adults with expanders before they mentioned it to me. keep us u...

Re: Braces at 41
Saw them comment on the bite stops/turbos. How long has it taken to get used to them? I have major overbite and was told I'd be getting bite turbos for period of time until the overbite improves and no loner in danger of breaking off a lower bracket. how long do you have to have your bite turbos on ...

Re: tonuge crib
sounds like a plan. I'm adapting pretty well. speech is better, though still struggle with some "s" words that can sound like a lisp. It is working according to both my ortho and speech therapist and my tongue is starting to sit in the right place. I had root canal and waiting on the final...

Re: getting ready for braces
I looked into the six month smiles, but my crowding and overbite were not things that it would correct good enough. I don't know much about it other than my one consult. The only thing I was leery about was that a dentist was doing the treatment and not an orthodontist. None of the orthodontist I me...

getting ready for braces
I'm 51 and will be getting braces on in June most likely. I had root canal today and getting a new crown over the next month. After that, I get a tooth extracted that is needed because of crowding. As soon as that is healed, I'm set to get braces for 24 months. Because of my overbite and crowding, I...

Re: Spacers
I wont have to wear them for a month, bit I was told by my ortho that I'd need to have spacers in for 2 weeks as my molars were really tight and that more time was needed to make the space necessary to get two bands side by side. She said some people only wear them for a week, but adults tend to hav...

Re: tonuge crib
sounds like a plan to do this when things have slowed down work wise. I don't have braces in yet, so people did notice the appliance since nothing else was in my mouth. Had I had braces, not sure anyone would have noticed. You cannot see a lot, though there is a metal bar running across the lower pa...
