Re: Super painful wire changes with Damon-type brackets

Just like yours, my first orthodontist only offered self ligating brackets. They are much more of a hassle than whatever “quicker” results you may think you see. Also it is a must in regards to using proxa brushes with those brackets. The build up will be noticeable if you don’t use them. They are s...

Re: Super painful wire changes with Damon-type brackets

I remember my days of self ligating brackets. The opening and closing was horrible. And I feel it’s because they are more of a pain to clean than traditional brackets. Food particles etc get stuck in the crevices over time and even if your dental hygiene is superb it will still cause issues when it’...

Re: Anyone else having problems sleeping since braces?

I am having a terrible time sleeping since I got my braces. I am in elastics now (class 2) and am constantly aware of my jaw position, tongue position (trying to break a tongue-thrusting habit that was causing my bite to open), mouth position (trying to fight my habit to breathe through my mouth), ...

Re: Do I have flared teeth after braces?

Yes your teeth are flaring. That orthodontist needs to simply do their job. For the amount of flaring that you have I'm not sure if IPR will be enough to upright those teeth. Simply put the solution here is extractions. With IPR you are limited with the amount of enamel that can be removed before co...

Re: Are self-ligating brackets worth it?

Self ligating brackets are not worth it. You won't finish treatment any faster. Ceramic braces are not worth it. They will still be visible as your tooth color and the ceramics will differ. Ligatures discolor. Powerchains discolor. Everything that you will try to avoid with conventional braces you w...

17 months in...I have about 12 months in 24/7 elastics. I do believe I will possibly wear them until the end (supposedly 19months).
