Re: Day 1 of Living with Braces

No worries. Just tell them what happened. Doesn't sound like it was your fault. Once, after having braces for more than a year and a half, the wire was nagging in the back of my mouth and I tried using pliers to fix the issue and of course detached a bracket(it was weekend and couldn't wait till Mon...

Re: Drinking alcohol with braces?

Every once in a while doesn't hurt. I've had braces for 2 years and I've been out once a week partying. I've never had any problems with my braces or teeth. Sound like you're being extremely careful :D loosen up and have fun :)

Re: Oh the pain

I took pain killers four times a day for the first few days (2 paracetamol and 1 ibuprofen) a whole lot of pills and it was very difficult to swallow as I couldn't open nye mouth that much and had difficulty drinking. But it sounds normal, yeah. So I wouldn't worry. I stopped taking pain killers aft...

Re: How long do you need pain meds

It will pass with time :)

Perhaps age has something to do with it - I'm 28 and recovered a lot faster than I expected based on what I was told by my ortho and surgeon. Are you allowed to chew, you said your teeth hurt? I'm not allowed to chew anything for at least 4 weeks post op.

Re: Upper jaw surgery cost Ireland

Hi there I have absolutely no idea about the cost. However, I do not think it's crazy that you want to do this. I had trouble chewing properly and just went through my second surgery 2 weeks ago. Just be sure to get all your questions answered and get as much info as possible from your ortho and sur...

Re: How long do you need pain meds

Hi there, I had my surgery the day before you and stayed at the hospital for 1 day and went home early afternoon the day after. I had double jaw surgery. I'm sure it varies (perhaps quite a lot) from person to person; I took pain meds(panadol and ibuprofen) 4 times a day for the first 4 days then ha...

Re: Do you chew gum with your braces?

I was very hesistant about chewing gum at first because of what I had heard from my ortho and read online about gum and braces in general(first few months) . But, I've now had my braces on for two years and I chew gum almost daily. I never had any problem with my braces or anything. So, in my case n...

Re: SARPE Surgery

@bimberley hope everything turned out perfectly with your sarpe surgery and the inflammation. I didn't experience any bleeding like that myself. I hope you are well. A question for everyone. How long did it take you to get complete feeling back after the surgery? I am now 9 months post op and still ...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi everyone Been ages since I've been here. I hope everyone is doing well. I finally had the TPA taken out today, it was starting to gnaw on my palate so lucky me! A question for everyone. How long did it take for you to get the feeling back in your upper teeth and rest of the face? it's been 7 mont...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hey Hope everyone is well. @Sadoozie. Luckily it didn't close up too much. My ortho said everything looked perfectly fine. This TPA is absolutely AMAZING compared to the RPE. I barely even notice it and it is much easier on my tongue. Eating isn't an issue at all anymore, I can eat almost anything n...

Re: SARPE Surgery

@Sadoozie - They didn't mention anything out of pocket at all. I asked if it was possible to get completely white braces, even if I paid it myself, but my ortho shot it down right away and mentioned that I'd get partially white braces. I have no external ortho, he works at riget and everything is do...

Re: SARPE Surgery

My bottom braces are metal. I asked about the ceramic braces as well, but my ortho said that he would not recommend them at all. I am from Denmark as well and was told that when I get my top braces they'd be white on the front (4 teeth if I remember correctly). You could try asking your ortho about ...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Turning the expander wasn't as uncomfortable as I had initially thought. I was "scared" :D it would hurt. But, I can't really feel anything while doing it. I've only been turning for a week today though, maybe it'll start being uncomfortable when it gets wider, as some have mentioned. Oh y...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Today is 10 days post-op and I'm feeling great. A lot of the swelling is Down, some still remains though. @Gkc08 My ortho at the hospital in Copenhagen told me that swelling could last for another month or two, so as the others have mentioned, it could very well just be swelling. I started feeling a...

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi Goku It's so nice to hear encouraging Words. Thank you so much. Glad to hear you're able to eat more stuff now. I can't wait until I'm on soft foods and not liquid. How long did that take for you others though? I think the "worst" part was actually getting my two bottom wisdom teeth pul...
