Re: Switching ortho?

Meowmei, sorry you find yourself in that situation. I started this thread a long time ago and just saw a recent posting. Well, the update is that my feelings about my ortho did not change and I went quite a way into treatment. I was both not happy with how it was going nor the communication style of...

Re: Ceramic vs Metal braces

Ask your orthodontist if there is any expected difference in terms of results. I chose self ligating clear brackets for top and metal bottoms. I am about to change ortho and will be switching to all metal traditional. A number of orthos I have consulted with second time round have told me they no lo...

Seems that he won't take a patient already in treatment.

Re: Orthodontist in Bay Area California/San Francisco?

Thank you so much. I did just send you a quick message. Looks like you had a decent amount of info in your treatment plan. The fact that your teeth are referred to by numbers is already more info that I had. And I'm impressed that he invites you to call if you have questions too.

Re: Orthodontist in Bay Area California/San Francisco?

Littlething, may I ask a couple of questions about Iezman's practice? Do you see much of him at each visit? Does he explain what's going on without you having to remember all the questions while you have a mouth full of instruments and your head tipped down to the floor? What level of detail did you...

Re: Orthodontist in Bay Area California/San Francisco?

Thank you for the Dr Iezman recommendation! See, that's the kind of communication I feel I am lacking and the close contact with my dentist too for a holistic kind of treatment.

Re: Orthodontist in Bay Area California/San Francisco?

Following up with my dentist. My first choice (who my dentist likes) retired by the time I plucked up courage to go for braces. I'm in East Bay.

Re: 28 years old and in Damon Braces - see my progress!

Great progress. Your profile looks great - fuller lips - win! My teeth were tipped in too. I've had a friend tell me my face looks fuller which is really what I'd expect because there's more structure (teeth) to support the soft tissue of the face.

Orthodontist in Bay Area California/San Francisco?

I have been seriously thinking of switching for a long time now and perhaps better late than never would like 2nd opinions/additional consultation. If you have faith in your ortho and feel like you are on track for good results, please let me know details. This site has a NO DEFAMATORY comments poli...

Re: Do you trust your orthodontist?

I trust my ortho but like a lot of other people, sometimes I question my treatment. It's hard because they only see you maybe 5-10 minutes a month, whereas you're looking at your teeth all the time. How can it be possible to see every little detail in 5 minutes a month?! But I tell myself, that's h...

Re: Do you trust your orthodontist?

Absolutely! I question my decision to go with this particular ortho every visit I am there. I think I'd have more confidence in her results if she was a better communicator. There were a bunch of reasons why I didn't go with others I consulted with (one moved, one retired). I feel like I'm on the ri...

Re: "Go To" Meals After Bracing, Adjustment, or Extractions

Mac and cheese #1!!! Soups, risotto, other pasta, bolognese, tofu in peanut sauce, gnocchi, eggs cooked all ways, soft fish, fish cakes (canned salmon with mashed potatoes, season, bind with egg and shape), quinoa cooked with spinach and cheese stirred in. Go to snacking/breakfast - cottage cheese, ...

Re: What are your worst braces symptoms?

Not so much a symptom but getting everything stuck in my braces when I eat. I mean it's absolutely gross and is killing my eating out socializing. I live in a city where there seems to be a surge of new restaurants every other week but I've just lost the enthusiasm for it as I want to go and water p...

Re: Woah. Huge change in appointments. Any thoughts?

Every 3 to 4 weeks seems a bit on the short side so I can imagine it feels strange going to 2 months. Ask your ortho. I don't always get very satisfactory answers when I ask questions - as you said, it's so routine for them but the biggest deal for the rest of us! Is there not a lot of moving things...
