Re: Teeth never feel clean enough

Oh yes, I can totally identify! It was a running joke on a recent holiday with friends that I'd be in the bathroom for 20 mins after a piece of toast. I was, and felt no shame! Like PP's have said the peroxide mouthwash is great, as is rinsing with water wherever and whenever; I've stopped taking th...

Re: How long did you find it difficult to eat for?

I've had mine since late April, and they've been adjusted once a month since then (ceramic upper and lower, metal wire). Yes, it was incredibly sore for around two weeks after 'installation', but it calmed down a bit; only to flare up again after every adjustment. Good job I didn't know this before ...

That's lovely to hear - I'm three months in, and now everything's full of gaps. Can't wait!

I've always been a bit of a messy talker, but oh dear gawd. The dribbling during sleep? That's new. And entirely unwelcome.

Re: Just curious about everyone's treatment cost

Honestly, I'd have paid more if I were happy with the orthodontist. Although mine is a little, er, 'dry', he seems pretty good in terms of treatment. But equally I can see that paying a higher cost for someone you get on with and trust is a good thing. It's a pretty tough treatment.

Re: Former Lurker/Newbie---Braces Launch in 36 Hours

Hellooo. About 2 weeks in myself, ceramic uppers and lowers with wire poking everywhere..... Also had the upper premolars extracted (a bonus, as I was originally told all four would need to go). I hope you're over the sore bite issue now? Things are a bit tender here but nothing like two weeks ago. ...

Re: Just curious about everyone's treatment cost

I'm in the UK; have ceramic upper and lower brackets, estimated treatment time 18 months, estimated cost approx. £3,600. I understand that also includes permanent retainers at the end of treatment, with tooth reshaping. I guess I'll be covering the tooth whitening myself :)

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

Just got mine fitted at 43. I'm hoping they'll be off before I'm 45.

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

Thank you sooo much for this post. It's helped me to find the whole forum (and wide-ranging help on new brace issues!) I guess my new username gives away my biggest sin. I am now the proud owner of flouro-yellow bands (newbie confession - I didn't even KNOW I had bands). And I broke a bracket on one...

Hello - totally new to this!

Hello - I'm posting 5 days in to my first orthodontic experience, at the tender age of 43. I only happened across the forum when I made the rookie error of breaking a bracket (on the first day) and eating curry on the third. Hence the username.... Just wanted to say a pre-emptive thank you to all pr...
