I've had mine since late April, and they've been adjusted once a month since then (ceramic upper and lower, metal wire). Honestly, I'd have paid more if I were happy with the orthodontist. Although mine is a little, er, 'dry', he seems pretty good in terms of treatment. But equally I can see that paying a higher cost for someone you get on with and trust is a good thing. It's a pretty tough treatment.

I'm in the UK; have ceramic upper and lower brackets, estimated treatment time 18 months, estimated cost approx. £3,600. I understand that also includes permanent retainers at the end of treatment, with tooth reshaping. I guess I'll be covering the tooth whitening myself :)

Just got mine fitted at 43. I'm hoping they'll be off before I'm 45.
