Re: still suffering from depression/regret after jaw surgery - advice?
I think your photos look fine! There's no point in questioning the past because it's over and you can't undo surgery. Forget the TADs. Life is short, so why waste time worrying about things you can't change? Accept who you are today.

Re: In desperate need of advice.
I don't know about your teeth, but your profile looks fine to me. You could spend tens of thousands of dollars on oromaxillary surgery, but why? Things could end up much worse than where you are today. Just my 2 cents.

Re: One more with extraction doubts...
So you had 1 upper bicuspid removed (and none on the bottom?). I thought they usually tried to pair up extractions so you don't end up with more teeth in one arch that the other. My problem is not dissimilar from where you are now. I have a congenital absence of one lower bicuspid so the midline mov...

Re: Feeling Mislead
Sounds like there was either a serious misunderstanding or deception. That said, just go with the treatment, it's not the end of the world. Most people don't care and adult braces are very common these days.

Agree with veneers or bonding to fill in the space around the teeth if it's really bothering you. I don't think that more orthodontics will do much, but I'm not a dentist!

Re: Intro + a question about ratio of men vs. women in braces
It sounds like you really need some treatment (surgery, ortho, whatever)... Does it really matter how many orthodontic patients are men?

I'm also in the camp that says that orthodontics should be done by properly trained and qualified orthodontists.

What was the outcome? It sounds scary.

Re: Power Chains Help!!
My understanding is that powerchains close gaps. I don't know what lingual braces you're using, but if it's Incognito, the archwire is custom designed to move your teeth to very specific positions, and one tooth should not be protruding if the treatment is at or near completion.

Re: 6 Month smile - different types
Looks like a good appliance, and on both sides of the teeth, so I suppose it's at least partially lingual!
Keep us posted. I'm sure others would like to know about your experience with this kind of appliance.

Re: 6 Month smile - different types
GBP 700 (USD 1100) for an arch would be quite cheap in the U.S. (where I live). I'm paying over $8000 for Incognito (a complete treatment lasting 18-20 months, and including both arches). I think the first thing is to find out what kind of treatment you need and how long it's likely to take. I agree...

Re: 6 Month smile - different types
I would recommend you read Dr. Jorgenson's Orthodontics Blog (Google those words) before rushing into "6-month braces". His most recent post is on the topic of 6-month smiles, and why you should be cautious about something that sounds too good to be true. Here's the Cliff Notes version, as...

Re: braces or invisalign
Is Invisalign an option? There are some orthodontic tooth movements that are either not possible with Invisalign or much easier to achieve with braces.

Re: Lingual braces visible through thin teeth
I didn't experience this. It may not be the best time to have veneers put on during active orthodontic treatment.

Re: Harmony Lingual braces
From what I can tell, Harmony brackets are self-ligating, meaning the archwire is held in place by a mechanical mechanism on each bracket rather than the small elastic ties like Incognito or standard (outer side the tooth) brackets. Whether or not that is an advantage or a disadvantage is not clear ...
