Re: How many surgeons did you consult?

I went to one orthodontist (based on her having the best reviews), and I went to the surgeon she works with. Unfortunately, I regret almost everything. My orthodontist was overbooked and overworked, so I don't think I got the attention necessary for my case. My surgeon was OK, but the facility in wh...

Re: Nose change - moved over to the right

My nose leans more to the right now and it never corrected itself (I am 11 months out).
As for it being turned upward, that usually takes about 6 months to go back down (from what my surgeon told me, and from what I experienced).

Re: Actually Corrected Midline?

Hopefully your healing and results will be better than mine. My surgeon was supposed to correct my midline the first time (only reason I opted for upper surgery), but 11 months after the fact and it seems like my midline is worse and my nose is more crooked than ever. However, the open bite is gone ...

Lock-Jaw Long After Surgery

I had double-jaw surgery about a year ago. I have never had any problems with my joints, but lately I have developed frequent lock-jaw and intense pain on one side. My surgeon told me it is because I grind my teeth and put me on anti-seizure medication, and if it does not work the next step is to go...

Retainers are not that bad, and definitely worth it after all the pain and torture we must go through. :GapToothed:

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I broke down and ate some taffy last night. Not one piece, but four pieces. It took almost 30 minutes getting it all cleaned out of my braces but it was worth it!

Re: Worse before better?

Yes, it is extremely discouraging. I thought my teeth were straight before, but now they actually look like I need braces.

I hate elastics

At first my elastics seemed to work okay as long as I don't open my mouth, but now with only a few days left to my next appointment one side keeps snapping off. If I open my mouth the left elastic shoots across the room. SO ANNOYING! I was hoping that since I have had braces before and am a surgery ...
I've had braces for nearly two years. I've had terrible mood swings, low testosterone, strange skin and hair issues, my sleep has been terrible... I felt great right before I got them on. Ever since it has been a battle.
Have you considered seeing an allerg...

Re: My color ties keep coming off?

I agree, you need to see your orthodontist sooner than a few weeks. At the very least, contact your orthodontist and let him/her know what is going on. If your wire has any chance to move on its own, it might set your treatment back quite a bit.

Re: Open Bite correction with TADs

Goodness, I wish I had known about TADs before my treatment began. I consulted with 3 different orthodontists who all said that I will be needing surgery to correct my open bite, but now I am starting to feel like they were all quacks. Almost a year into braces and not looking forward to surgery. An...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I was really good the first 3-6 months, but now I have slacked on flossing (ever since getting elastics and power chain it is a major PITA), and I am drinking soda again. I also eat pringles.
