Re: SARPE Surgery
Hi again, Thanks Collie for your advice. It's been now three weeks since surgery and i'm feeling a lot better. I 've stopped expending since Mondday and now I "just" have to deal with the gap. But I wonder, it there anyone who had the surgery and expended in one side only? See, my midline...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Hi guys! I had SARPE 6 days ago, i'm feeling a bit low and tired. I wonder when i can try to exercise to gain some energy. Just do what feels right! I had my surgery on a Monday and I remember taking my dog on a (short) walk that Friday. It made me feel good. Just listen to your body and don't push...

Re: Your jail sentence
March 2017-December 2018, so that puts me at 21 months. Hopefully everything goes to plan, I can't believe I'm only 6 months in!

Re: What do you for pain?
I've been in braces for 6 months now, and haven't really experienced any pain until my last adjustment. I got bite turbos and brackets put on my very back molars and between the weird bite, pokey wires, and additional jabby metal these last 3 weeks have been miserable  I've been dealing by usin...

Re: SARPE Surgery
@Metalmouth1987: I hope too you find positive results at the end. Just curious for anyone who has had this surgery: How long did your orthodontist wait after surgery until putting the braces on? My orthodontist only waited a few weeks. He put on a power chain at the same time and the gap was closed...

Bite turbos
So yesterday I got my palate expander out (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), and just when I thought I was home free and ready to go to snack town and you know, able to speak normally again, they put these little blue bite turbos on the insides of my molars. I honestly didn't even know what they were before y...

Re: Palate Expander or Sarpe?
Unfortunately palate expanders on their own won't do much on the adult palate, since the bones have fused already. At least that is the general consensus among orthos, a few people have had success expanding their palates as an adult without surgery but it seems to be quite the minority and who know...

Re: The emotional side of the journey
Yes, this process has been very, very hard on me mentally. I had SARPE and one premolar extraction in February which I realize isn't nearly as serious as double jaw, but I guess I didn't take into effect the whole "things have to get worse before they get better" part of the process. My fa...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Just wanted to show some progress pics. First two pictures are my smile before SARPE, and second two are current smile. Almost 4 months post-op. Obviously I'm still dealing with a gap and a lot of asymmetry but its so cool to not see the dark space on either side of my mouth anymore! http://imgur.co...

Re: SARPE Surgery
I'm so frustrated...I stopped expanding over 2 months ago and my gap hasn't budged. I even had a power chain put on two weeks ago and still no movement! I thought power chains were supposed to work crazy fast?? Any other SARPE victims had a gap for this long? Is something wrong with me? Should I be ...

Re: SARPE gap not closing
My last day of expanding was March 2nd. I also got my braces on that day. My 10mm gap has closed only... maybe half a mm? It really is taking its sweet time. It's crazy how different everybody's experience with this procedure is.

Re: SARPE - Keep getting conflicting info about closing the gap
We are surgery buddies, I am two days behind you but I have had lots of complication. My orthodontist is going to put in a little fake tooth in the gap for me as the bone heals. When the gap starts to fill in they can take it out. Talking is rough with the gap and she said this will help me sound m...

SARPE - Keep getting conflicting info about closing the gap
Hi everybody! A little background on me: I had SARPE Feb 6th, so almost 4 weeks ago. I stopped turning my expander yesterday and I also got my braces on yesterday  I turned twice a day for 3 weeks and my gap is huuuuuge! 10mm I believe. So I'm a little confused about when this gap is going ...
