Re: Metal braces for a crowded, gummy smile

First of all, I am blown away at how beautiful your smile looks! Awesome results! I have a few questions for you if you don't mind: 1. What was the purpose of the clenching exercises? 2. I think I remember you being one of the people who noticed thinning of the face as well with braces. Since you g...

Re: I'm going to get braces this year!

NeilH, I missed your original debracing post while I was away from the board and am just now seeing it. WOW! Your teeth look fantastic and I am glad you are nearly free from having to think about retainers in the daytime. Congratulations!

Looking good! I certainly think you have some room to keep pushing those upper incisors but you have made a ton of progress on that front already.

Wow Prof, your teeth look amazing! I'm sorry I missed your debracing post while I was away from the board. You had lovely teeth all along -- isn't it wonderful how orthodontists can envision them brought out to their full, beautiful potential? Congratulations.

Re: Metal braces for a crowded, gummy smile

I AM FREE!!! :-* :-* :-* Before I post my before-and-after photos, let me recap my story in case anyone finds this and doesn't want to reread all my posts. My teeth were not that bad to begin with -- I had not really needed braces as a teenager -- but my teeth have been moving during the last few ye...

Re: Metal braces for a crowded, gummy smile

Well, I postponed getting my braces off. After my last post, I decided to go back to the ortho for a bit more fine tuning. I wasn't happy with how the shape and tilt of my upper central incisors made my whole smile look slightly lopsided. (See the orange lines I've drawn in the pictures below...

Re: Metal braces for a crowded, gummy smile

Long overdue update! Due to a job change I just haven't been able to tool around on the internet like I used to. Since I last posted here, I've had my final adjustment and am scheduled for debracing on May 3. :jump: 7 to 11 months.jpg Yes, I'm rocking purple sparkle powerchain. It is NOT a flatterin...

Re: Introduction, bite blocks, and gluten free soft foods...oh my!

Wow, 8 pounds is a lot of weight loss in 18 days. No wonder you're feeling lightheaded. My proteins of choice on my bad days are mostly legume-based (think hummus and other bean purees) and dairy-based. I am hurting from an adjustment yesterday and am planning on a big bowl of tuna salad (hold the c...

Re: Bringing upper jaw forward

These are great questions, but not ones that strangers on the internet can answer for you! You should consult with an orthodontist in your area (in the US, these consults are usually free) and possibly also an oral-facial surgeon. There are many, many treatment possibilities out there, ranging from ...

Re: LOOKING FOR BRACES ADVISE

It depends; braces aren't super fragile. But you definitely should call your ortho and ask him, since he knows what your exact situation is and we don't.

Re: Braces and depression

Perloo, I want to affirm you putting yourself out there to us. We're always happy to listen, because we know how unexpectedly traumatic braces can be at times. So please don't think I'm disregarding your painful feelings when I say: No one cares about your braces that much. Really. Do you have any e...

Re: Metal braces for a crowded, gummy smile

Today was adjustment number 7, and it was a busy one! I got what was left of my molar buildups removed! :jump: I also got: 1. A Class 2 elastic on one side only, "Trumpet." (Equivalent to Ormco Impala. I am realizing what a thrifty dude my ortho must be, as many different companies as he o...

Re: My 17 months progress feeling worried.

Hi Snowblaze, sorry you haven't gotten any replies yet. I'm a little confused about your ortho's plan to start charging you for visits after the 24th month, as it sounds fairly unusual. Many cases overshoot the ortho's original estimated treatment time, and it sounds like it could be quite a racket ...
