Re: Zero Tooth-Show ... Revision Maxilla Down-graft
Most people don’t fix it. Give it more time to get full movement back and swelling to go away, but that is very common, especially for older patients. It’s a risk of CCW rotation, and an extremely common outcome. Cosmetic procedures may offer a little help. Even a downgraft revision surgery, if you ...

Re: Do I Look Worse After Surgery?
In the second before and after picture (the .docx one), the before is on the left (above the braces pic) and the after is on the right, correct?

Re: New member, IVRO vs BSSO
Practically speaking, since you asked, at your age there are a few additional concerns. Normally this surgery is very difficult mentally. Looking at a new face in the mirror can take many years to get used to. You’ve gotten used to your current face for 46 years, and now likely consciously or subcon...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
That’s a good question, I was just thinking it was because I don’t have braces yet. I think it’s the easiest way of keeping things stable in the absence of braces, but he didn’t specifically say that. Interesting. I guess it would be even better than archbars, but you’ll be locked down then, right?...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
Sorry to hear you need another surgery, Nozzel! Recovering from SARPE wasn’t nearly as bad as double jaw surgery, but I was on soft food for awhile. The other thing that sucks is going in public with a big gap between your front teeth, but it’s short-lived, at least. Looks like I haven’t updated th...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
Just wow. I think it’s really underrated to have a doctor that makes you feel comfortable enough to air your thoughts and gives them legitimate consideration. We’re talking about our faces here, it’s insane not to have any (or minimal) input. What’s the timeline look like? How much width do you thin...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
Well... SARPE is now on the table. Things settling way too narrow. Wish we had done SARPE before double jaw; but better late than never. Unfortunately first available appt is late November. It never ends... Wowww that’s stunning. Have they mentioned you being a borderline SARPE case in the past?! A...

Re: Getting Double Jaw surgery in a few weeks
Welcome Kiki! I’m not sure about the insurance timing as that part was pretty opaque for me. I would guess it takes a week or 2 after it’s submitted, but I’m not sure. Maybe someone else can chime in who had a more transparent experience. Sometimes insurance companies ask for additional supporting i...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
Good to hear from you Nozzel! The new retainers sound interesting. Did your ortho describe them or say what they’re called? Regarding the numbness, I think about it less and less these days. Rarely at all, at this point, so I’m just going to assume it’s because I was a little “old” when I had my sur...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies
I'm pretty upset but I also feel vindicated that I was right about what was going on. I totally get being upset about the road ahead, but I am SO happy for you that you’ve finally gotten to the bottom of the issue! It seems like for years you were coming home from the orthodontist or TMJ doc with h...

Re: Questions about jaw surgery if you have a class 1 bite
I am in the US, so my surgeon probably isn’t one you would consider. In fact, she isn’t even particularly well known in my area of the US, but she was covered by my insurance plan and she did a great job. I’m not familiar with any doctors in Europe, unfortunately, so I can’t give my input on that. O...

1. Yes, but more for cosmetic reasons, though I do believe my sleep apnea has improved. 2. I still snore occasionally, but not as often. 3. I believe there is a chance of relapse, especially if you gain weight. 4. My surgery was 7 years ago. It was one of the best things I ever did, but I underestim...

Re: Other CA Surgeons Who Does Counter-Clockwise Rotation?
Any surgeon can do CCW rotation, just ask for it and ask for a visit after they’ve developed your surgical plan so you can review it. It’s time well spent. They’ll explain the logic behind their decisions and you can confirm that CCW rotation is planned.

Re: Questions about jaw surgery if you have a class 1 bite
Hi there! Sorry it took someone so long to respond. I was in the same boat in that I already had a perfect bite before my bimax and SG. I’m not a doctor, but I think it’s unlikely that you would need any “decompensation” prior to surgery. Definitely consult with a surgeon, but I think you could prob...
