Re: How aften are your adjustments?
Mine are always either 6 weeks or 8 weeks apart. Typically they are 8 weeks apart. But I've had the odd 6 weeks apart appointment here and there.

Re: Just got my powerchain, ouch.
Hi, I just got a powerchain put on my top teeth yesterday too! I had one before a couple of months ago, it closed gaps last time very quickly, within about 48 hours. Then it was taken off and as time went on a few gaps were created again, hence the powerchain comes back. I had a gap between my two f...

Re: Crowns after braces come off
I have a front tooth that I broke as a kid...very little of the tooth is left. I then had a root canal and was told to get a crown but I never did. I'm considering getting one when I get my braces off. My main reason is having been told that if I were to crack it or break it that I could end up losi...

Re: Crooked Second Molar. Less than a year before debanding.
Its often typical for the very last molars to be done later. Mine weren't hooked up for the first 2 months and just got hooked up yesterday. But since I was curious if that was normal to wait to wire the back molars I looked it up and found that it was actually quite common. In fact most people who ...

Re: Frustrated with small gap
I would talk to him about it further. Maybe straight up ask if he is concerned that it isn't moving as fast as it should be and why that might be. I got a power chain put on to close a gap in my front teeth and even overnight it has closed some. There are different types of chains, some are tighter ...

Re: Why do orthos wait to put brackets on back molars??
Wires are often changed to thicker wires at times. I don't think they're always thicker. Sometimes it seems like they will change it to something quite thick for a specific purpose and then switch back to a less thick one later. Or keep them the same. It depends on the type of movement they're tryin...

Re: Anyone else notice the pity stare?
I haven't noticed that yet. Rarely I notice someone staring at my mouth...but even that is actually pretty rare. I was worried about comments but I don't get many. I work with kids and they comment but no one else really does. The kids will also stare. They still do even now after 2 months and they ...

Re: I want my permanent retainers out
Well my advice is do what you feel is going to make you the happiest. I feel like you probably weren't happy in the first place though if you got braces or were having some other issue that may also return. My advice is to talk to your dentist/orthodontist and see if there are other options first. P...

Re: Damon Clear Q: Clear on top and bottom or not?
Most of the time braces aren't super noticeable on the bottom teeth anyway. If you're young and getting braces you obviously want to end up with nice beautiful teeth in the end (and they have to last quite a long time still!) so if there is a chance of clear braces harming your teeth in some way I'd...

Re: Eye Twitching After First Adjustment
Thanks, its been gone for several hours now. My eye normally doesn't twitch and it was quite the adjustment. My molars at the back were quite out of line and even overnight I had quite a bit of movement in the molars and front teeth too. I think it was probably tension in my face that caused it. Or ...

Re: Eye Twitching After First Adjustment
I've never woken up with a twitching eye but I do occasionally have a stiff jaw and a headache. I tense up in my sleep especially in the first few days after an adjustment. Perhaps that's what's happening to you and the twitching is tension. You have a lot of hardware; that's got to be uncomfortabl...

Re: 28 y/o Getting Braces for Open Bite/Crossbite
8 Days Later - Upper Back Bracket Comes Off I woke up this morning and went to the kitchen. I was getting a drink and noticed something between my upper lip and gum at the back. Something hard. Hoping it wasn't a piece of my tooth I picked it out. It was a bracket. It must have come off in my sleep...

Re: 28 y/o Getting Braces for Open Bite/Crossbite
2 Days Later - A Wire Needs to be Clipped So within 2 days the back bottom bracket has the end of the wire sticking out far enough that it is digging into my cheek and making a hole. I used some wax but it comes off when I eat. My husband told me to call them and they will clip it. I was just going...

Re: 28 y/o Getting Braces for Open Bite/Crossbite
First Few Days with Braces The first few days actually haven't been too bad. The first day I was a little sore but the second day was worse. When I got home from the orthodontist my husband was there since he had taken the day off (well worked from home) to be with me. He made me Macaroni and Chees...

Re: 28 y/o Getting Braces for Open Bite/Crossbite
Getting Braces On This update happened about 2 months ago now, so I'm finally getting around to posting it! The appointment was January 13th at 9:30am. My orthodontist only puts on braces in the mornings apparently, I was told he likes his patients to be "fresh," when they get their brace...
