Re: The benefits of obsessive elastic wear
The initial prognosis for me was 24-30 months. I too have been obsessed with wearing my elastics and the orthodontist said that if my teeth continue moving at the same rate as they currently are, then I may get my braces off in 7-8 months. If that happens then I will only have had braces for 13/14 m...

Re: Weight loss
** Update ** I've lost a total of 11 kgs since I got the braces on! I am still on a mostly soft food diet but the main difference is I no longer snack between meals.

Re: 10 days and can see a difference already!
I too noticed movement after the first week of braces. Last week I had my first wire change and was given Class II elastics to wear, and again I can already feel that my bite is changing.

Re: How long did you have your build ups or bite turbos?
I had build ups placed on my molars when I first had the braces fitted 2 months ago. I ground them down in my sleep to almost nothing! Yesterday I had my first appointment to replace the wires and I thought they would replace the molar build ups but they didn't. I thought I'd be super happy but I ki...

Re: How Long Did It Take...
I've definitely had to re-learn how to pronounce certain words, mainly to avoid the braces rubbing against my lips resulting in mouth ulcers. It has been quite frustrating as I need to do a lot of presentations and attend meetings for work. I speak with a lisp now - super annoying!

Re: Extraction positives, celebrities with extractions!
I had 4 teeth extracted this week and this thread was extremely reassuring! There are some great examples here (I love Emma Stone!!). Right now I'm worried about the length of time it will take for the gaps to close but I'm overall excited about the end result due to the extractions alleviating the ...

Re: 6 Month Update - With Pictures!
Fantastic progress! It's amazing how fast teeth can actually move!
I love reading these types of progress posts as they help me stay positive when I'm feeling sorry for myself due to all the usual issues with wearing braces (liquid/soft diet, mouth ulcers etc.).

Re: "But your teeth are fine! Why waste money?"
My family and friends were very supportive of my decision to get teeth extracted and braces fitted. ALL of the seemingly negative comments came from work colleagues as they couldn't understand why I'd be spending $8500 on braces when my teeth "worked perfectly fine". They all were under th...

Re: Got my Waterpik!!
A Waterpik is on my Christmas list for this year. I've heard so many great reviews. I can't wait to start using it, though it's a lot more expensive in Australia than in the US.

I have had my braces for 2.5 weeks and lost 4 kilograms. This is the most expensive diet I've ever been on!

Re: 31 with braces!
Yayyyy! Perthgirl26 let's get this beautiful smile together! How long will you have your brace babies?
The orthodontist thinks approximately 20 months. It seems like such a long time but I know it will go quickly. How about you Namaste?
