Hi all I am also due to have double Jaw surgery on 23 Feb. I am having the following Top jaw moving it up by 6mm and in by 2mm. Lower jaw 7 mm out and sliding genioplasty 6 mm but might be less. Plus 4 wisdom teeth out. Sound like some big moves to me but I knew my jaw was out by fair bit. He thinks...

Mine is meant to be coming out next week (I said that last appointment and did not happen) but hopefully this time it will.... no more looking in mirror trying to find the elusive bit of food tangled in the Expander :gavel:

Hi Ruca I also have expander in and have now had in for 6 months. I have Quad Helix but never seen your type before. How did you go talking and eating with it? for me I talked ok but s sounds slurred at times and for the first month I had to really think how to pronounce my words. Eat is still a pai...

Sounds like you have more elastics then people that have surgery :soremouth: Hopefully it does the job quickly for you

:yuck: :ThumbsDown: :? It did not happen and I am stuck with the expander for at least another 4 weeks and to really have poor me moment the ortho said my front to teeth are moving really slowly ...... Today I really hate my teeth :crazy:

Love this topic made me giggle as I can relate to it in so many ways Since I have had the expander and braces I have become a serial drooler and alway seems to be when I am on train dozing :-Z and next thing I feel big long bit of drool running down my chin ..... I quickly wipe it off hoping no one ...

The bad news separators are probably one of the most painful part about braces but luckily they are only a couple of weeks. Maybe try taking something to help.

Trust me it improves in a months time you will have forgotten about how bad it is to eat and will be eating pretty much normally again :) any weight loss from your braces diet will be regained :ThumbsDown:

Hi Ridingboots, Right now I'm on day 5 and I have sores in my cheeks from where my lower brackets are rubbing. The biggest nuisance is however the bit blocks, I can't chew properly and my ortho says I need to wait for them to wear down... It's quite painful too as the bite block on one side is bigg...

I hope your braces are going well and not hurting to much and hopefully no sores from where they rub.

I had giggle about the metal taste as I thought the same thing when first got brace and now never have the taste of metal.
