Hi there.

Your mouth will toughen up fairly quickly. Keep a water bottle with you. Keeping your mouth moist will help. applying chap stick to your lips is very beneficial also.

Hi there ! I too am getting close to lower jaw surgery . I am 53 and have the same concerns as you re : the risks of having orthognathic surgery. I will know by first week of March when my surgery date will be. Could be as early as late April to late June . Let`s keep in touch . Sincerely, Darlene :D

Thanks Dan for your response. I would consider myself to be physically as well as emotionally healthy. Not a smoker and eat fairly healthy. I am not overweight (5`6" 130 lbs.) .My down fall may be that I don`t exercise near enough as I should be. Thanks again. I appreciate your feedback. Sincer...
